SNOW ❄️

I LOVE a good snow day! I am originally from Breckenridge, Colorado. I have snow and winter in my bones. I know how to handle it and drive in it and when an all wheel or a 4 wheel is needed.

This morning, I had a baby and mama to check on down a road that the plows had not gotten to yet. The dad called and offered to come pick me up in his 4 wheel truck. We definitely NEEDED a 4 wheel drive to get to their house. We saw a handful of stranded cars on our way, cars that had no business being on the road. If you don’t have a vehicle for the snow, stay home!

After seeing the insanity of the unplowed roads and cars sliding everywhere I cancelled my clinic day. I won’t risk any pregnant mamas and babies getting hurt.

If you are one of our mamas in dates, don’t worry! My car is dug out, my driveway is clear and my birth bags are packed and ready….. also, Bailey has a 4 wheel truck so we are all good 👊🏽💛

Happy New Year.

This beautiful baby girl made her way into the world and into her moms arms just after 6 am this morning making her THE FIRST * baby born in Nevada County for 2026 🙌🏽🩷

The most perfect way to start the year.

* I verified this with both hospitals in the county and with all the other midwifery practices

2025 was a big and beautiful year.

We served sixty-two families, witnessing the most holy and sacred moments as they brought new life into the world.

Thank you to each of our families. The trust you gave us to care for you we hold close to our hearts. We feel honored and privileged to do this work and will carry all of the lessons and knowledge and wisdom that you taught us into this next year.

3:30am birth team smiles as a new Mama, a new Dad, and their sweet new baby are cozy and tucked into bed in the next room.

I am blessed to work alongside some incredible women. Labor and Birth are big and who your birth team is matters.

Making sure sis is doing well 🩷 No pretend stethoscopes for this big brother. He knew exactly where mommy kept her Littmann and how to use it. I have a feeling he will be protecting her heart his whole life.

Happy Father’s Day

Raising children is our gratest gift and highest responsibility. It’s scared work. To me, fatherhood is the practice and embodiment of love. The ability to be truly present for your family in every season of life. From the moment you know you have a little one on the way to your final breath.

I see so much love in my practice, so many beautiful, present dads, showing up to do the big and important work of fatherhood. The world, and your family, are brighter because of you.

Both of my students have their own uniquely beautiful background that brought them to midwifery. I want to take a moment and let each of them introduce themselves.

Bailey Peterson

I am a proud mama to three wonderful children, ages 3, 6, and 8. My Journey into motherhood sparked a deep love for pregnancy and birth, beginning the moment I discovered I was expecting my first baby.

After experiencing the home birth of my dreams with my third baby, I felt a clear calling and took the leap into midwifery school. I believe that pregnancy and birth are among life’s most sacred and natural experiences - and that every woman deserves compassionate, respectful, and individualized care. My greatest prayer is to bring light, love, and unwavering support to every family I serve.

When I am not immersed in all things birth and pregnancy, I prioritize my own health and wellness, staying active and grounded. I find joy in gardening with my husband, soaking up the sunshine by the lake, and cherishing time with my beautiful family. I am immensely grateful to be a full time mother, wife, and student midwife.

Midwifery Students.

Each one, teach one. This is our sacred duty. It’s how midwifery is passed down, not by books, not by tests, you have to learn through observing, listening, and hands on mentorship.

I have two incredible students in my practice, Bailey Peterson and Tatiana Priestley. They will be in my practice for the next couple of years. For those of you who have already had them as part of your birth team you know how dedicated they are to learning both the art and science of midwifery.

I have found a lot of sweetness and joy in sharing what being a midwife means to me. Teaching the next generation of midwives is also a lot of work, an honor and a huge responsibility. The lives of mothers and babies will be in their hands one day. When they leave my practice my prayer is that they feel grounded and confident in their skills. I also want them to always serve with a humble heart.

I believe that how we birth matters. How we are born matters. Who we have supporting pregnant women and families matters. The world needs more midwives.

Happy Mother’s Day

There is a thing with some midwives not wanting to take first time mamas, that they are more work, more texts, more hand holding , longer labors, harder pushing, transfer more often. This Mother’s Day I want to celebrate all those incredible first time mamas. First time mamas hold a special place in my heart. They make me a better midwife. They make me slow down and go back to basics. Every part of their experience is new and their questions reflect a desire to learn and be the best mothers for their babies. It is humbling to witness as each of them takes these beautiful and brave steps into the unknown. I feel so blessed to be there as a family starts to grow.
