Happy Birthday Yogananda! 🙏🌟

An important part of Paramhansa Yogananda’s mission was to help people understand, in very practical terms, how by living in the present, they can achieve eternity. In God, space and time don’t exist. In God, there is only here and now. 🌟

🕉️On January 5, 1894, Yogananda incarnated solely for the purpose to uplift mankind by sharing the sacred yogic tools that liberate us from karma and lead us to lasting happiness.

He did not come to rescue us, he came to give us the tools, to empower us to transcend our karma and ego. ⚡️

The greatest way to honor his life today is simple but profound: to control the mind in the present moment — let go of past regrets and future worries, and do our very best right now to love God and serve God. 🙏✨

Yogananda showed us that the deeper meaning of Christmas is to awaken the Christ consciousness within—a universal state of oneness with Spirit, available to all. ✨

Christmas honors the birth of Jesus, the Son of God, but more importantly, it invites us to attune to the consciousness he embodied: divine love, hope, salvation, and unity. ❤️

🌄At Mount Washington, Yogananda celebrated a social Christmas of gift-giving and feasting, as well as a spiritual Christmas with an 8-hour meditation. Both celebrations serve to help everyone connect more deeply with the Christ consciousness that Jesus embodied. ✝️🎄

Through this, Yogananda also reminds us of our own divine potential and encourages us to live Christlike, spreading love and goodwill everywhere. 🌟

What to do when strong emotions come up in meditation?

Nayaswami Gyandev, director of Ananda Meditation Teacher Training and longtime meditator, shares that emotions arise from the subconscious mind—a lower level of awareness. 🥺😔😩

Throughout the day, we move between three states: subconscious, conscious, and superconscious.

🌅When strong emotions surface, the solution isn’t to fight or suppress them, but to raise awareness—from subconscious to conscious, and then into superconsciousness, the natural state of meditation.

When you raise your energy and shift to a higher level of awareness, the emotion dissolve naturally – just like how the static of a radio fades when you switch to a clearer radio channel. 🙌📻
