Do you struggle to watch the breath without controlling it while practicing Yogananda’a Hong-Sau meditation technique? ✨☮️ Controlling the breath is one of the greatest obstacle to tapping into inner peace in meditation.

🧘‍♂️🧘‍♂️Here are 3 Tips for watching the breath in Hong-Sau:

1️⃣ Sit up talk with a straight spine to allow the breath to flow freely 💨

2️⃣ Step into the observer role as you watch the breath as if you are watching the waves of the ocean without the need to control it 🌊

3️⃣ Enjoy and surrender to the flow of the breath. From a sense of separation to being one with the breath will help you subside into deep peace and stillness ☮️

Myth: Meditation is hard work
Truth: Meditation happens through relaxation, not strain
Meditation invites us to unlearn one of our deepest conditioned beliefs: that success comes only through effort and doing.

That mindset belongs to the ego — the part of us that constantly strives, controls, and tries to achieve.
But meditation is not about doing. It is about being. It is letting go of of tension, self-definitions, of limitations that keep us separate from the infinite.

Swami Kriyananda shares in the Art and Science of Yoga that, “Everything in this world is done by straining – or so it seems to the worldly mind. But meditation comes only by deeper and deeper relaxation: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.”

“The yogi is shown how to develop his own latent powers rather than lean weakly on some outer agent for his physical well-being.”

🕉️ The teachings of yoga remind us that one of the most powerful tools for self-healing and self-protection is the strong flow of life force within the body, and the cosmic energy that surrounds us.

Swami Kriyananda said that ill health is the unnatural—not the natural—condition of the body.

Therefore, the primary emphasis in hatha yoga is on freeing the body of impurities that may prevent it from functioning as it should, rather than searching for the right doctor, pill, or external healing method strong enough to destroy disease.

Hatha yoga practiced correctly helps awaken energy and release tension, “bound energy,” trapped in the body. As this energy flows more freely, vitality increases, immunity strengthens, and the body regains its natural resilience.🙌🙌

🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️In addition, yoga practices also teach us to develop the self-control, willpower, and awareness to direct energy consciously—in and up the spine – toward the spiritual eye for deeper concentration and spiritual awakening.
