There are photos that just stop you in your tracks, and these are some of mine. The little person who turned my whole world upside down in the most beautiful way possible and made me a mother. I genuinely cannot imagine a greater gift. Being her mom is the best thing I have ever done, the best thing I will ever be, and I am grateful for it every single day.
On this Mother's Day, I want to take a moment to honor every kind of mother, because motherhood is expansive and complicated and breathtaking and heartbreaking and everything in between.
To the new mamas still finding their footing: I see you! To the veteran moms who have been at this for years, quietly and steadily loving your people: you are the backbone of so much. To the mamas in survival mode right now, running on coffee and willpower: I see your effort, and it matters.
To the mothers who are grieving... who held their babies for too short a time, or who never got to hold them at all, your love is not invisible. Your motherhood is real. You belong in this day just as much as anyone.
To the ones still in the waiting, still hoping and trying and trusting the process: your courage is immense and you are not forgotten.
To the mothers who took unexpected roads to their families, and to those still traveling that road: you are so seen and so celebrated.
Motherhood is not a single image. It is every one of you. And this space is for all of you.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for letting me be part of your journey. Happy Mother's Day. 🌷
