Western Sierra Medical Clinic

Western Sierra Medical Clinic We have locations in Grass Valley, Downieville, Penn Valley, Auburn, Nevada City, Oregon House and Kings Beach-Tahoe.

SFHC is a full-service medical, behavioral health, and dental clinic facility that meets the primary healthcare needs of area residents. When we ask our patients why they have chosen us as their healthcare provider, many tell us they first came here because we were a lot closer than the hospital or doctors' offices in town. But the reason they stay with us, we're told, is because of the exceptional care and personal service we offer.

April is Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Month, a time for communities nationwide to come together and take action to support strong families, thriving children, and healthier communities. This year, we unite under the theme “POWERED BY HOPE, STRENGTHENED BY PREVENTION”, recognizing that when families have the right support, they can build a brighter future for their children. Through advocacy, education, and community engagement, we can work together to prevent child abuse before it ever happens.

In honor of Endometriosis Awareness Month, Western Sierra Medical Clinic is proud to highlight the story of our Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, Morgan Stewart.

Morgan's battle with endometriosis started at just 12 years old. Luckily, her breaking point turned into her breakthrough. After finally receiving a diagnosis at age 16, Morgan was determined to change the narrative for others who also suffered with this debilitating disease. Her dedication to helping those who, like her, had been quickly dismissed, became a lifelong journey of purpose.

She pursued a career as a nurse practitioner, specializing in women's health. Morgan transformed her pain into passion, tirelessly advocating for endometriosis awareness. She is now helping others navigate through this diagnosis and empowering them to advocate for change.

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month 💛

Did you know that 1 in 10 women of reproductive age suffer from endometriosis? Yet, many go undiagnosed for years. This chronic condition occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, causing pain, infertility, and other debilitating symptoms.

Endometriosis is not just "bad cramps." It can impact daily life, mental health, and overall well-being. Symptoms may include:
🔸 Severe pelvic pain
🔸 Pain during or after s*x
🔸 Heavy or irregular periods
🔸 Digestive issues like bloating and nausea
🔸 Fatigue and brain fog

Why does awareness matter?
Many women are dismissed or misdiagnosed, delaying the care they need. Awareness leads to earlier diagnosis, better treatment options, and more research funding to support those living with endometriosis.

Stay tuned this month as we share more information about Endometriosis.
