…:Hridaya:..
Ayurveda and yoga, emphasize the significance of the heart as a center for physical and spiritual well-being, highlighting concepts like forgiveness and the interconnectedness of the heart with the rest of the body and mind.

- Both the Hawaiian and Indian wisdom traditions view the heart as more than just a physical organ, but as a spiritual center that connects us to the Divine.

- In Indian wisdom traditions, the Sanskrit word hridaya (hri - to give , da - to take, and ya from yam - balance ) refers to the spiritual heart, which is believed to be the center for giving and taking in perfect balance. It is seen as the seat of the spirit and the connection to the Universal Consciousness.
- Similarly, in Hawaiian culture, they call the heart Puuwai (Pu - Swelling , and Wai-liquid) represents the heart as a sacred space where water, symbolizing life force and emotions, resides. It is seen as the source of life, courage, love and spiritual energy.
- Both traditions emphasize the importance of cultivating a deep connection with the heart, as it is through this connection that individuals can tap into their divine nature and experience profound love, compassion, and spiritual growth.

In my own study I see that the physical heart and the spiritual heart are interconnected in their functions and symbolism. The physical heart is responsible for pumping oxygen and nutrients throughout the body, ensuring the well-being and vitality of all organs and systems. Similarly, the spiritual heart, is seen as the center for giving and taking on a spiritual level. The analogy of the physical heart's functions helps us understand the role of the spiritual heart. Just as the physical heart nourishes the body by distributing oxygen and nutrients, the spiritual heart nourishes the soul by radiating love, and positive spiritual energy. By cultivating a deep connection with the spiritual heart, individuals can experience a sense of balance and harmony in their lives, as well as a profound connection with others and the world around them.It is through connecting with the spiritual heart that one can overcome attachment to individual emotions and the individual soul, realizing our heart connection with the Universal Consciousness.

In essence, the physical heart and the spiritual heart work hand in hand to support overall well-being and spiritual growth. The physical heart ensures the circulation of vital energy throughout the body, while the spiritual heart serves as a guiding force, allowing individuals to tap into the infinite source of love and wisdom within themselves. By recognizing the interconnectedness of these two aspects of the heart, individuals can embark on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and transformation.

How do we care for the Heart?

1. Meditation: Regular meditation practice helps quiet the mind, cultivate inner stillness, and connect with the essence of the spiritual heart. It allows individuals to tap into their inner wisdom and experience a sense of peace and harmony.
2. Yoga: The practice of yoga combines physical postures (asanas), breath work (pranayama), and meditation to promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Yoga helps to balance the energy centers in the body, including the heart center, and promotes a sense of unity and harmony.
3. Conscious living: Living consciously involves being aware of one's thoughts, actions, and choices in everyday life. It means aligning one's lifestyle with values of compassion, kindness, and integrity. By making conscious choices that support the well-being of oneself and others, individuals nurture and expand their spiritual heart.
4. Cultivating positive emotions: Fostering positive emotions such as love, gratitude, compassion, and joy can have a profound impact on the health and vitality of the spiritual heart and Physical heart. Engaging in activities that bring about these feelings, practicing gratitude, and expressing love and kindness towards oneself and others nourish the spiritual heart.
5. Connection with nature: Spending time in nature can be a powerful way to connect with the spiritual heart. The beauty and serenity of natural surroundings can evoke a sense of awe and wonder, helping individuals tap into their innate connection with the larger web of life.
6. Self-care practices: Taking care of oneself on all levels - physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually - is essential for the well-being of the spiritual heart. This may include practices such as healthy eating, regular exercise, adequate rest, nurturing relationships, and engaging in activities that bring joy and fulfillment.
7. Cultivating loving relationships: Building and nurturing loving relationships with oneself and others is an integral part of caring for the spiritual heart. Creating a supportive and compassionate network of connections can provide a sense of belonging, love, and emotional nourishment.

Saurya 🌞

One Sanskrit Word for Courage, is Saurya.
Similar to the word for Sun, Surya.

The word courage is interesting . It comes from a Latin root cor, which means “heart.”
I like to think that Courage comes from the central sun within the heart. It rises and shines awareness into the unknown. It brings light to the darkness of fear and illusion, clarifying all that veils reality and truth.
Courage is one of the keys to healing. It takes courage and vulnerability to let love touch us where we need it most.

“ Courage is a Love affair with the unknown” - Osho

When I think of so much that is beautiful and good in my life, courage preceded most of it. My daughter, my friendships, my work, my home, and my health.. Courage to pray, to trust my intuition, to take action and to wait. Life takes courage, there’s no way around it, and when we meet life with courage the light shines, the Peace is found and a Love is born. This Love, it has no end. Courage is the key to transform ourselves for the better and grow our into our fullest potential, wholeness.

We must generate the courage equal to the size of the difficulties we face.” -Dalai Lama

Choice is a gift.

The journey of life is a woven story of choices. Choices that bring dis-ease and choices that bring health.

Each step, each movement, each action will come together to create the learning that is needed. Painful choices often bring one to a place of breaking open, increasing awareness, and arriving to a place where one can make more wise, caring, harmonious choices.

There are choices that align with life, and therefore they nourish and strengthen it. We have the power to make choices that bring relief to pain. The pain that comes with a message, working to redirect one so that one may know more about how to live in alignment with life, with nature, with creation, with the divine intelligence that is our origin.

In all of our choosing we are learning, and remembering who we are. Choose to give love to each part of you that has grown distant from your center. This will allow for the heart to help one choose more of what will bring joy on one’s quest to healing, to wholeness.

Ayurveda, is also a gift.
Ayur meaning life and Veda meaning knowledge or science. The science of life.

With this ancient wisdom, one may awaken to the innate power inside oneself to heal, if one so chooses.

“Ojas”
Is the Sanskrit term used to describe the energy that governs the immune system. It also means the force of contentment and stability, or the essence of endurance and strength.
In the physical body Ojas manifests as the force of stability protecting the physical body against disease.
In the the mind, Ojas provides psychological stability, resisting the forces of stress and allowing a person to remain content regardless of what is going on around him/her. It provides a container for thought and emotion. When Ojas is low a person is much more subject to losing control of thoughts and emotions.
Ojas is the guardian of our Aura. The energy field that surrounds and shields us from all external stressors.
When Ojas is balanced stress and subtle impressions, such as other people’s anger, washes off the Sheild of Ojas , as water washes off a raincoat.
Ojas is depleted by a lifestyle that pushes you beyond your limits. Overworking, exercising too much, poor sleeping habits, poor diet, poor digestion, resistance to “what is”,excessive travel, stimulants, Alcohol and stressful living over a long period of time drains Ojas.
Cultivating and Preserving Ojas is an art , especially in a world with so much stress and change.
These are a few ways in increase Ojas in the body and mind 🍯
~ Cut back on stimulants
~ Eat Organic, Local, and Seasonal foods
~Chew your food thoroughly
~ Self-Oil Massage
~Yin Yoga
~ Forgive
~ Accept yourself and life as it is
~ Build Ojas with herbs
~ Reduce stress, keep good positive company, let go of negative influences
~ Spend time
In nature
~ Cultivate Gratitude
We can’t give what we don’t have, so let’s start filling our cups and be a force of stability, and strength in times like these.

..::Prajnaparadha::..

For thousands of years people have been saying to themselves “I really shouldn’t, but I’m going to do it anyway.” Ayurveda has a word for that and it’s called Prajnaparadha, considered one of the primary causes of disease, which is closely linked to the mind; a betrayal of our inner knowing by choosing to do something we know brings us harm.

We invite healing and create the conditions that defend us from disease by utilizing our free will to link with our inner knowing, the quiet subtle voice of truth that is aligned with our spirit.
This act in itself strengthens our connection to our inner knowing and further propels us to
make positive choices.

..:Rasayana:...
Rasayana is a Sanskrit word meaning path of essence. It is an Ayurvedic medical term referring to techniques for lengthening lifespans and invigorating the body.
Ayurveda teaches that anything supporting the blood, the tissues and the immune system are called Rasayana therapies.
These therapies are beneficial for burn out, fatigue, stress, overstimulated mind, EMF radiation exposure, hormone imbalances, anxiety, insomnia and over exposure to toxicity in our daily lives to name a few.
Here’s is one of my favorite rasayana tonics filled with rejuvenating adaptogenic herbs and warming spices to support your digestive fire while nourishing your blood and tissues 🌿
Ashwaganda Tumeric
Moon Milk 🌝🥀✨
1 cup unsweetened nut milk (such as h**p, almond, coconut, or cashew)
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground turmeric
¼ teaspoon ground ashwagandha (or another adaptogen, like shatavari or astralagus)
2 pinches of ground cardamom
Pinch of ground ginger (optional)
Pinch of ground nutmeg
Freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon virgin coconut oil or ghee
1 teaspoon raw honey or maple syrup
Bring milk to a simmer in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk in cinnamon, turmeric, ashwagandha, cardamom, ginger, if using, and nutmeg; season with pepper. Whisk vigorously to incorporate any clumps. Add coconut oil, reduce heat to low, and continue to cook until warmed through, 5–10 minutes (the longer you go, the stronger the medicine). Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Stir in honey (you want to avoid cooking honey or you'll destroy its healing goodness). Pour into a mug, drink warm, and climb right into bed.
