Communication disorders are among the most common conditions in children and adults, affecting tens of millions of people in the United States alone. Left untreated, these disorders can negatively impact a person’s academic, social, and career success—as well as their overall quality of life.
With early treatment, many communication disorders can be reversed or even prevented. However, treatment at any age or any stage can make a positive impact.
We are pleased to recognize May as Better Hearing and Speech Month. We salute the audiologists and speech-language pathologists in our community who dedicate themselves every day to improving the lives of their clients, patients, and students.
Let’s also recognize the needs of those among us who have hearing, speech, language, and swallowing disorders—and do all that we can to ensure that they have access to the services of audiologists and speech-language pathologists who can help them communicate effectively and swallow safely.

Nevada Regional Medical Center is joining healthcare organizations around the country in celebrating National Physical Therapy month. We take great pride in our Performance Therapy staff who help patients reduce or eliminate pain, regain their strength after surgery, improve mobility and balance, manage diabetes and cardiovascular conditions and in some cases, eliminate the need for surgery altogether.

NRMC Earns 5-Star Rating

Nevada Regional Medical Center recently earned a 5-star quality rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the highest rating a hospital can achieve. The overall star rating is based on 48 quality measures in five different categories. To earn a 5-star rating, NRMC met or exceeded the national benchmark in all 5 categories, which include: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, and timely and effective care.

“We are most pleased with the recent news that NRMC has been designated a 5-Star Hospital,” says Jason Anglin, NRMC's Chief Executive Officer. “This has certainly been a team effort, as everyone has pulled together to consistently provide our patients with excellent care and quality services. Nationwide, only about 14% of hospitals achieve a 5-Star Rating.”

Nevada Regional Medical Center believes that their continued commitment to "Caring with P.R.I.D.E." (Professionalism, Responsibility, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence) has helped them earn this prestigious 5-star rating.

Our awesome therapy staff received the Galaxy Award! We are so proud of our awesome staff and the hard work they do daily! Congratulations everyone!🙌🏼

Whether they’re helping someone recover from surgery, strengthen their body or prepare for a return to work, the professionals at Performance Therapy consistently receive numerous compliments. One patient writes, “I had Annie and Heidi, they were very kind and listened when I had questions. I had Annie most of the time and she was great! I also appreciated that they scheduled a full month’s worth of appointments at one time.” Another writes, “Jenny Tucker is the best! She made sure my son understood the importance of taking care of his back.” So, to our Performance Therapy Department, who continue to do a great job every month, we say, “Congratulations on being this month’s Galaxy Award winner.” Pictured from the left in the back are Courtney Beshore, DPT; Ashley Rodgers, Director and RPT; Mindy Wettstein, PTA; Cheryl Barker, RPT; and Linda Richardson, Receptionist. Recently, NRMC joined forces with Nevada R-5 nurses and coaches to provide free athletic physicals for Nevada student athletes. In total, almost 150 middle school and high school students participated. Robin Daniels, Health Services Coordinator at Nevada R-5, said, “It’s always a pleasure to collaborate with NRMC to complete the required athletic physicals for our students. I greatly appreciate all the hard work they put in to make this event successful." Reyna Blakely, Director of Community Relations at NRMC added, "NRMC is proud to offer this service to area students. Every year we look forward to providing these physicals and we have an amazing team of providers who volunteer their time year after year. Students may receive athletic physicals at any time throughout the year by simply scheduling an appointment with their NRMC medical provider.” Pictured below NRMC Occupational Therapist Annie Thorpe tests the balance, strength and coordination of a student athlete.
