William Nobles

William M. Nobles, age 75, of New Albany, Mississippi, passed away on November 9, 2025. He was born on June 25, 1950, in Pheba, Mississippi, and lived a life characterized by his deep appreciation for the simple joys-whether it was riding horses, enjoying mules on wagon trails, or spending his days fishing.

William proudly served his country in the United States Army from October 7, 1970, until his discharge on April 28, 1972. Following his military service, he worked diligently as a trailer spotter at Mohasco Corp, where he built lasting friendships and earned respect among his peers.

He is survived by his brothers, Tommy Nobles, Billy Nobles, and Roy Nobles, who will forever cherish his memory and the warmth he brought into their lives. He is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his parents Marvin Nobles and Lois Nobles, sister Earline Nobles Sharb, brothers, MC Nobles, Herbert Nobles, James Nobles and Bobby Nobles.

A visitation will be held at Glenfield Funeral Home on November 12, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Rev. James Steele will be officiating the service. William will be laid to rest in Glenfield Memorial Park.

William will be remembered for his kind spirit, love of nature, and unwavering devotion to his family. His legacy will live on through the hearts of those he touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in his memory to a local charity of choice.

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Gyneth Pannell, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on October 30, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born on June 9, 1937, in Watertown, NY, Barbara lived a full life devoted to her family, friends, and passions. Barbara was a dedicated cashier who brought her warmth and kindness to her role as a manager at Chevron in Tupelo, MS. She will be remembered for her infectious smile and her unwavering commitment to serving others. Beyond her professional life, Barbara had a rich array of hobbies that showcased her vibrant spirit. She found joy in cross-stitching and engaging in various arts and crafts, skillfully creating pieces that brought comfort to those around her.

Barbara's heart was especially enchanted by her collection of frog figurines. She delighted in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was savoring a slice of pizza or indulging in a warm brownie, often accompanying them with the sweet sounds of country and old gospel music that echoed her love for life.

Barbara is survived by her devoted children, David Pannell, Patricia White, and Dennis Pannell, her adoring grandchildren, Dusty Pannell, Donald Keller, Amber Morton, Dorthy Mitchell, Nina Pannell, Dennis Pannell Jr., and Katie Keller. Each of them holds a piece of her heart and remembers her as a guiding light filled with love and laughter. She leaves behind a host of great grandchildren as well. Barbara was preceded in death by: Harold Robinson, Nelda Yates, Maynard Robinson, Nelda Yates.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 2:00 PM- 7:00 PM allowing family and friends to gather in reflection and remembrance. and all who knew Barbara are invited to celebrate her remarkable life, share stories, and cherish the joy she brought into the world. Funeral Service will be held on Friday November 7, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Glenfield Funeral Home.

As we say goodbye to Barbara Gyneth Pannell, we remember her not with sorrow but with gratitude for the beautiful legacy she leaves behind - a legacy rich in love, creativity, and laughter.

William Harvey Prather

William Harvey Prather, "Bud" a beloved member of the New Albany community, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on August 20, 1955, in New Albany, MS, William led a life deeply rooted in the values of hard work, family, and the great outdoors.

As a dedicated farmer throughout his life, William contributed significantly to the agriculture industry, working at Gregory Cattle where he cultivated not only the land but also strong relationships within the farming community. His love for nature extended beyond his profession; he was an avid fisherman and hunter, finding joy in c**n hunting, and he cherished every moment spent outdoors. William was also known for his fondness for trading and selling knives, a hobby that brought him closer to many friends and fellow enthusiasts. The warmth of his spirit shone brightest during game nights, where he could be found surrounded by friends, playing dominoes and sharing laughter, reminding all of what it means to truly live life to the fullest.

He leaves behind a loving family that includes, his daughters, Haley Prather and Betty Fojut; his son, Billy Hale; his grandchildren, Breanna Taylor, Billy Hale Jr, and Katrina Perez; his brother-in-law, Gary Speck (Janet); he is survived by Dean Carroll, his nieces, Cheryl Sanders and Debbie Carroll ; his nephews, David Robertson and Justin Speck; and his uncles, Bob Chism and Bill Chism. Each of them carries forward the legacy of his kindness, humor, and joyous spirit.

William was preceded in death by: Betty Prather, parents; Amos Holloway Prather and Eula Chism Prather, Charlotte Speck, Amos Prather.

A visitation will be held at Glenfield Funeral Home on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 1:00 PM, providing an opportunity for friends and family to come together in remembrance of William's life. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, celebrating the remarkable man he was. William will be laid to rest at Glenfield Memorial Park on October 31, 2025. Rev. Glen Williams will be officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Lucas Prather, Donnie Moody, Gary Speck, Dean Carroll, Justin Speck, David Robertson and Sammy Carroll.

In this time of sorrow, let us remember William Harvey Prather not only for the life he led but for the love he shared with all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him well.

Ernestine Holden

It is with profound love that we announce the passing of Earnestine Holden, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend. Earnestine transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on October 11, 2025, at the age of 88, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, MS. Born on January 9, 1937, Earnestine led a life rich in love and creativity. As a devoted seamstress in the factory industry, she used her talents to bring joy and warmth to her family and community.

Earnestine was known as the "crafting queen," dedicating countless hours to express love through her delightful creations. Her culinary skills shone through in her beloved kitchen, where she found serenity in cooking and canning, filling her home with the comforting scents of her favorite dishes. A loyal member of Thaxton Baptist Church, she embraced her faith and actively participated in the Joy Group, fostering bonds with others in her community. Earnestine’s love for her family was boundless, and she took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, finding her greatest joy in their achievements and happiness.

Earnestine is survived by her loving spouse of 69 years, Alton Holden, her son Terry Holden (Debbie Black Holden), daughter, Mona Weeden (Jimmy Dale Weeden), sons-in-law Bobby Shettles and grandchildren Todd Shettles (Michelle) Kurt Shettles (Jane Claire), Heather Deaton, Bubba Greer (Lindsay Greer), Alanna Bledsoe (Mark), Jodi Forsyth (Josh) and Brittany Roberson (Will).

Earnestine was preceded in death by her parents, Shadrach Meshach Abednego Gafford and Georgia Jumper Gafford, daughter, Teresa Shettles and granddaughter Mandy Gillespie.

Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, October 18, 2025. The family will welcome loved ones for a visitation at Thaxton Baptist Church, beginning at 12:00 PM with a funeral service to be held at 2:00 PM, where we will gather to honor her life and legacy in joyous remembrance. Following the service, Earnestine will be laid to rest at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bro. Mark Jones and Bro. Michael Waldrop will be officiating the services for Mrs. Holden.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Gillespie, Holden Gillespie, Tristen Gillespie, Gideon Deaton, Milo Forsyth, Match Forsyth, Grady Bledsoe, Channler Fleener and Zayne Fleener. Earnestine’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and her legacy will continue through the many lives she touched. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she gave so generously in this life.
