Did springing forward take the spring out of your step?⁠

Daylight savings time on its own can definitely leave you feeling off, but this is also the beginning of kapha season and the qualities of kapha can leave you feeling sluggish and fatigued when they are in excess. ⁠

Here are some helpful tips from Carrie on how to better deal with daylight savings time and kapha season.⁠

🌅 Wake with light – Get outside within the first hour of waking, even for 5–10 minutes. Morning light helps reset your biological clock.⁠

🥘 Keep meals consistent – Try to eat at regular times to stabilize digestion and energy.⁠

🏃 Move early in the day – A steady, intentional practice before 10am reduces kapha heaviness and builds grounded vitality.⁠

😌 Wind down intentionally – Dim lights earlier than usual and minimize screens to help the body settle.⁠

It's almost time to Awaken the Light...☀️⁠

Join us March 21st for our annual Awaken the Light 108 Sun Salutations for Spring Fundraiser! ⁠

This year we are donating proceeds to Hope Southern Indiana. This organization aims to help individuals and families in need become more self-sufficient, while also providing emergency basic needs. ⁠

If you sign up before March 1st you'll get the full 20-day training program to prepare! It's $20 to sign up for the fundraiser and you get a pledge sheet after signing up so you can fundraise even more!⁠

We encourage you to attend in person, but there is an online option available.⁠

Self Care Day 7. Goal: Ask for help when you need it. ⁠

Today's focus is on asking for help when you need it. This can be super challenging for some of us who wish to be self reliant. Unfortunately for those of us who don't want to rely on others, we are a species that was made to do so. We have had to rely on each other to hunt and gather, to make and raise our children, to simply survive in this world, ancient and modern alike. So why is it so hard to simply ask for help?⁠

Although everyone's answer to that might be different, the bottom line is that we all need help and support from time to time and there is no harm in asking. Sometimes this looks like asking for someone to listen to us- professionally or personally. Sometimes this looks like asking those we live with and are close to for support in other ways. It truly takes a village and we are meant to rely on each other.⁠

Remember, you can just focus on asking for help today, or stack it on the previous self care habits we have covered: Do something fun that you enjoy, let go of perfection, spend time wisely and set boundaries/limits with how you spend it, get good rest, eat something nourishing, get outside and do yoga today!⁠

Self Care Day 6. Goal: Do something fun that you enjoy.⁠

This could be so many things! Cooking, creating, dancing, singing, biking, reading, journaling, decorating, and more! Do anything fun that you enjoy today- simply because you enjoy it. ⁠


Remember, you can focus just on doing something fun today for enjoyment's sake, or you can stack your self care habits and also: let go of perfection, set limits/boundaries and spend your time wisely, get good rest, eat something nourishing, get outside and practice some yoga!

Self Care Day 5. Goal: Let go of perfection. ⁠

This can be a challenge for many of us. We want to be perfect, or we strive to be knowing we are not and we feel disappointed because of this. Letting go of perfection can help us in the long run. It's okay to want to improve and get better at what we do, but accepting that we will likely never be perfect can ground us in reality and humility. This doesn't mean that we stop striving to improve, it just means that we also find contentment in our current ability. If we are no longer able to improve, but we still feel that we are not "perfect", we can be content in doing our best and being our best.⁠

Letting go of perfection also helps us to forgive ourselves and move on from our mistakes, of course we must acknowledge our mistakes and learn from them, but we don't need to hold onto them and beat ourselves up over them forever. We are all human and truly, none of us are perfect. ⁠

Remember, you can let go of perfection, but still practice the other suggested self care tips from earlier this week: set boundaries/limits and spend time wisely, get some good rest, eat something nourishing, get outside and do some yoga!
