Transitioning to Growing Kids Concierge, while a necessary change, does not mean it is necessarily easy.

In doing so, we have had to say many bittersweet goodbyes, including to employees who have continued to serve our community and our office. As patients, we are aware that it is not just the doctor or provider that has the ability to make an appointment run smoothly, but those who remain at the forefront.

Please join us in recognizing and showing our gratitude as we wish the best for Sara Fuller!

We have appreciated our Fuller Funnies, her hard work and dedication, how she has continued to put up with Dr. Laneโ€™s crazy antics in celebrating Star Wars, Disney, and everything in between. Most of all, we have appreciated how she has always gone the extra mile for each and every patient.

Thank you, Sara, for assisting our growing kids to do just that.

To Our Growing Kids Families:

As we continue to navigate through our transition with Growing Kids to serve as a concierge based model, we have received several inquiries about Sarah Birge, APRN, who has remained a centerfold with Growing Kids โ€“ her compassion and care for families is exactly what we strive for as healthcare providers.

While we wish Sarah wouldโ€™ve remained with the practice, we are excited for her decision in her new endeavor! Sarah will be joining Dr. Angela Talley at First Kids Pediatrics, located at 5300 State Road Ste 105 in Georgetown, Indiana! The practice, owned by Harrison County Hospital, will be able to take Medicaid patients.

While we will greatly miss Sarah at Growing Kids, we are grateful for her dedication and service to our community and wish her all the best in her new role.

Thank you, Sarah, for your unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of our children!

Wishing our students and parents an easy transition as we switch gears from summer break and head into the new school year!

Check out some of our tips on how to help our children thrive!
- Develop a routine: Routines are beneficial for young children and adolescents when facing changes in their day to day life - school included! By developing and maintaining a regular schedule, we can aid our children by providing them with tools for success!
- Maintain a sleep schedule: Growing kids with growing minds need their recommended amount of sleep! See the attached graphic for more information!
- Eat a healthy breakfast each morning: Beginning our day with a healthy breakfast can jump start our mornings! Check out our list of recommended foods and quick grab and goโ€™s for busy mornings!
- Have a discussion regarding emotions such as fear and anxiety as students transition: Many children are faced with strong emotions when facing shifts in their routine and new experiences. Be mindful of what your child and/or household may be experiencing as a result of this and open up discussions regarding how to navigate through it.

Unfortunately last night our power went out during office hours.

Our phone system and our computer systems are still down. We have been working to fix this all morning.

We are sorry for the inconvenience, if your child has an emergent medical issue, please go to Norton Childrenโ€™s Emergency Room located downtown or on the east end of Louisville.

We understand that our transition from Growing Kids Pediatrics to Growing Kids Concierge presents new challenges for patients, their families, and our practice.

In order to facilitate transparent communication, we will continue to post and touch base on frequently asked questions from our Growing Kids families, including: what is the membership fee and what do these costs entail?

๐ŸŒŸMembership fees provide increased access to Dr. Christina Lane and more personalized, comprehensive care while insurance covers visits and treatments.
๐ŸŒŸThe membership fees do not replace your insurance. Dr. Lane will continue to bill your insurance for all insured health care services provided GKC and Dr. Lane; however, your membership fee will offset copayments that you normally would pay at the time of service.
๐ŸŒŸThe costs of services provided by a third party (an entity other than Growing Kids, such as LapCorp or other specialists) will be handled as before with Dr. Lane coordinating care while the third party is responsible for billing your insurance.

As we continue to transition from Growing Kids Pediatrics to Growing Kids Concierge, Dr. Christina Lane addresses the reasoning behind the change by highlighting her personal experience with a concierge model practice.

Ultimately, Dr. Lane strives to create a hybrid concierge model for patients as both their advocate and encourager.

In order to maintain an open forum for patients as we navigate through changes, we will be posting more information this week regarding billing and insurance as well as what a hybrid concierge model service looks like.

Please feel free to visit our FAQ page for further information.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to work through the details of this transition. We understand that change is difficult and that many of you have questions and are concerned about what this means for you and your family.

We have added additional information on our website. We will continue to update information as details become available.

Dear Families of Growing Kids Pediatrics,

Serving your children is an incredible honor. I have cherished every moment of providing care to your families since opening Growing Kids Pediatrics in 2011.

I want to share this news. By September 3, 2024, Growing Kids Pediatrics will transition from a traditional insurance model to Growing Kids Concierge, a hybrid concierge model.

Due to the changing economics of medicine, particularly in pediatrics, traditional insurance paid care for families with commercial or private insurance is taking too much time away from what I love to do โ€“ care for you and your child. Itโ€™s no longer feasible to provide the level of care you deserve under the traditional model. What I want to do is charge you a reasonable sum to care for your child, without either of us having to fight with an insurer for coverage for the care you need. I want to be available when you need me, not when your insurer says you can have a visit. I want to be able to take the time I need with your child, instead of an insurer telling me that I only get seven minutes. I am so excited about this new move and canโ€™t wait to share it with you.

Growing Kids Concierge will allow us to still accept certain types of insurance policies as well as structured cash pay schedules and includes an affordable membership fee per child with family discounts. This change will allow us to:
- Offer longer, more personalized appointments
- Provide 24/7 access to myself or my team
- Make same or next day sick appointments, telehealth appointments, and reduce wait times for appointments
- Focus on preventative care and wellness, with coordination of care
- Build stronger, ongoing relationships with your family
- You will still have your healthcare policy with your insurer available for catastrophic needs and we will work closely with any other provider who sees your child to ensure continuity of care.

I believe this new model will lead to better, more personal, and comprehensive care for your children and your family. As part of Growing Kids Concierge, my team will be there for your family whenever you need us.

So, what does that mean for Growing Kids Pediatrics?

Effective July 3, 2024, Growing Kids Pediatrics will begin a sixty (60) day transitional period with our new practice in place by September 3, 2024. During this time, caregivers and patients will be able to receive the same care as previously provided.

All appointments in July and August will be honored. During that time, Growing Kids Pediatrics will be available for emergencies or consultation. Call the office at 812-944-4575 as you always have to contact Growing Kids Pediatrics.

See the attached comment for Frequently Asked Questions or visit the website at www.growingkidspediatrics.com for additional information.

Please do not hesitate to contact us at 812-944-4575. We are here to assist you and provide all the necessary information to make this transition as smooth as possible.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have a direct hand in the growth of the tiniest members in our community.

Thank you for your continued trust and support. As your healthcare provider, it has been the great privilege of my life to have a hand in your household as we continue to watch our growing kids do just that.

Warm regards,

Dr. Christina Lane

May is National Water Safety Month! As the weather warms up many of us will be spending more time outside and that means we need to practice safety around the water!

Water is an attraction during the summer months. Whether we're drawn to lakes and rivers or public pools and water slides, safety is a necessary concern. We use the water for leisure, sport, and general outdoor relaxation. Boating with or without motors, swimming, fishing and many other kinds of recreation take place in and around the water.

Protecting children around water should always be a number one safety concern.
An adult should always be supervising children around water, whether it's a pool, a lake or the ocean.
Follow all facility rules and don't rely on floatation devices for keeping your child safe.
In the water, make sure an adult joins the child.

Practice safety and have a great time in the water!
