Sacred Birthing Village-SouthCoast

Sacred Birthing Village-SouthCoast 🌿 Birth is Liberation. Women are Power. Rooted in New Bedford. Our vision is a healthy community of mothers, fathers, and babies.

A revolutionary movement for BIPOC birth justice — Re-membering our ancestral rite, Re-claiming & restoring birth sovereignty, and building reciprocal community care.
✨ Built by us, for us. As a chapter-based project (Affiliated with Birthing Project USA), We are our sister’s keepers and understand it takes a village to mobilize change. We are women dedicated and committed to building sisterhood and standing with and supporting the pregnant women in our community through their most sacred journey: childbirth. We are the underground conductors on the underground railroad to new life, helping to close the disparity gap to give BIPOC and other mothers, fathers/partners (passengers), and families a safe, healthy, and thriving passage through pregnancy and childbirth to have and raise a healthy baby.

Women were never meant to journey sacred initiations alone. Birth is a sacred rite of passage that deserves to be witnessed, honored & elevated.
We were meant to remember it together.

For most of human history, women gathered in circles to share the wisdom and medicine of the body.
Birth knowledge lived in community, in sisterhood and kinship.
But over generations, that remembering was interrupted.
Women were separated from the spaces where this wisdom once lived.
At Sacred Birthing Village, we are creating spaces where that remembering can happen again.
In honor of International Women and Birthing people, we continue our Sacred Circle: The Remembrance Series gatherings where women come back into relationship with their bodies, their breath, and each other.

Because when women remember their bodies…
something powerful returns.

✨ This month’s Sacred Circle:
The Sacred Portal. Pelvic Floor & Birth Physiology
Guided by medicine keeper, Sister Dr. Justina Perry of Oshun Physical Therapy, we will explore:

• Pelvic floor awareness
• Breath and body connection
• Restoring trust in the body
• Collective reflection in circle

Limited to 20 participants

Childcare & Dinner will be provided.

Peace, Kin-mmUNITY, Come sit. Come rest. Come be held.
Sacred Birthing Village will be at Wateke by the Water this Saturday, 26th. We will be bringing a soft place to land in the middle of it all.

We’re holding sacred space for birthers, elders, truth-tellers, and community.
Your voice matters. Your story is sacred. Your presence is enough.

With deep love and gratitude to everyone showing up, and a special salute to the Boricuas of New Bedford who carry the spirit of liberation in their bones.
We see you. We honor you.

See you then ✊🏿

✊🏿 A Sacred Word from the Village

You may have seen the article in SouthCoast Today about Sacred Birthing Village and the $500K fellowship from Chicago Beyond.

But we know: only we can tell our story.

Because what we hold, what holds us, what we touch and what touches us must be shared with the same potency, joy, power, and restoration that we live every single day.

And while we’re grateful for the recognition, this is not a story about money.

This is a story about faith. About sacred obedience. About what happens when a love offering is finally returned to a people who’ve been holding the line with nothing but ancestral fire and divine conviction.

The truth is, our story cannot be reduced to a headline.

So, we’re telling it ourselves.
Raw. Real. Restorative.

This summer, we’re launching the SBV Blog, a living altar of testimony, sacred remembrance, and Black maternal restoration.

But until then… stay close.

We are walking through the fire of these times, genocides, collapse, grief and still, we remember we are the ones to rebirth and restore.

Not by headlines, but by holy rhythm.

Don’t just read about the fellowship.

Walk with us in faith.

Be part of the global return to what is sacred.

You can connect with us directly at (774) 503-4218 or email soraya@sbvsouthcoast.org.

There’s always a warm cup of tea and a healing soup waiting for us to sit together, share breath, and be in Kin-immUNITY.

🖤 JUNETEENTH ISN’T A DAY—IT’S A WAY
Not just a celebration, but a remembrance.
A return.
A refusal to forget who we are and what we deserve.

🌾 SBV Stone Soup is our gathering of the people.
We bring what we have-food, story, presence
and we create nourishment that feeds the soul.

✨ This is how we live freedom.
By choosing each other.
By showing up.
By remembering we are the village.

🫶🏾 Come to the table.
For liberation. For restoration.
For thriving lives. For us. By Us.

🌺 The Journey of a Little Sister
A Sacred Path of Belonging, Becoming, and Being Held

There is a moment when a woman—carrying life within her—crosses a threshold.
Not just into motherhood, but into remembrance.
Into sacred vulnerability. Into possibility. Into her fullest self.

At Sacred Birthing Village, we call her our Little Sister—
not because she is small or less—but because she is entering
a sacred portal of becoming.
And as she does, we encircle her with the full web of the village.

To be a Little Sister is not to be served—it is to be seen.
It is to be honored in your wholeness.
To be accompanied with deep presence.
To be poured into with love that doesn’t measure worth in paperwork or appointments.

We don’t “match” SisterFriends to Little Sisters.
We gather around them.
We show up in layers. In rhythm. In care that shifts and breathes.
Meals. Massage. Prayer. Presence.
A ride to the doctor.
A ceremony under the stars.
A circle of hands after birth.
A voice on the phone when the tears won’t stop.
Laughter. Herbal steams. Healing touch.
Remembrance.

🌿

Little Sisters walk a reciprocity journey—
giving just as they receive.
Bringing their medicine.
Teaching us how to be with life.
How to listen.
How to pause.
How to protect the sacred.
Their birth is not just theirs—it is ours.
Their restoration is community restoration.
Their thriving is a mirror, a pulse, a prophecy.

And for every Little Sister who has trusted us with her becoming—
thank you.
You have made this sacred work what it is.
You have reminded us again and again why we return to the village.

🌀 If you are walking with new life,
🪶 if you are seeking sacred holding,
💫 if you are ready to be loved in the fullest expression of who you are becoming—
you are welcome here.

🌿✨ A Sacred Invitation to the Web of Care ✨🌿

To every SisterFriend who has walked with us,
who has offered her hands, her prayers, her presence—
thank you.

To every woman who became more than a companion—who became a keeper of memory, a witness to life, and a tender of soul—
we see you.
You have made Sacred Birthing Village what it is.
Your love is woven into the very bones of this sanctuary.

To every sister who has been our teacher—
thank you for being fully YOU.
It is your wisdom, your knowledge, your story that is interwoven into where we now are and what is.
The best is yet to come.

🌸

We are not a program.
We are not a service.
We are a return—to what was sacred, what was communal, what was ours.

And now we open the gates wide once more.
We are calling in more SisterFriends—
wise women, loving kin, sacred witnesses—
to hold, walk with, and uphold the birthing ones and the whole village.

This is not a role you take on.
This is a way of being.
A remembrance.
An initiation into collective care.
A sacred yes to being present and shifting with the realness right in front of us.

If you feel called to become a SisterFriend—
to nourish, to circle, to hold, to rise—
we welcome you.

🌀 Come into the rhythm.
🪶 Come into the ceremony.
đź’« Come into the web.

Because they are trying to take it all. But the narrative is already rewritten. It’s our turn. It’s us. A full reclamation of freedom. Liberation. It’s held in the threshold between life and death. Carried deeply in the wombs of the carriers and sustainer of life! Gather with us in this prayer. Freedom. Liberation. How do you embody and practice your liberation?
