Our Nutrition team was at the Fairhaven Senior Center yesterday, helping celebrate and honor all the veterans in town, and it looks like everyone had a great time!

A big thank-you to everyone who joined in, and a special shoutout to the volunteers from All Trust Credit Union for lending a hand and to Rep. Mark Sylvia for taking time out of his busy schedule to be part of the day.

We’re so grateful for our veterans and for the community that continues to show up to support them. Happy Veterans Day!

Mark your calendars and bring your appetite. Texas Roadhouse is teaming up with Coastline once again to support meals for OLDER ADULTS in our community!

On Dec. 3, a portion of your dinner will go directly toward keeping nutritious meals on the table for neighbors who need them most. Texas Roadhouse has been a generous partner to our Meals Program, and their support means even more now as SNAP funding cuts means every dollar must stretch further.

We’d love your help spreading the word. Tell your friends, plan a night out, and join us for great food that does real good. Stay tuned for all the details and get ready to dine for a cause that truly makes a difference!

The Massachusetts House of Representatives passed licensure for non-medical home care services this afternoon by a vote of 153–1. This is a major step forward in affirming our professional home care workforce and ensuring consistent safety and quality standards for the individuals and for the families we support every day. Thank you to all the advocates and to Chairman Thomas Stanley for advancing this effort. https://members.thinkhomecare.org/member-news/Details/home-care-licensure-legislation-passes-massachusetts-house-next-stop-the-senate-297477

We are deeply grateful to the New Bedford Friends (Quakers) for their generous and timely gift of $15,000 to support Coastline’s Meals Program.

With the uncertainty surrounding SNAP benefits and the ongoing government shutdown, this donation will go directly toward ensuring that older adults in our community do not go hungry. The Friends shared that this decision reflects a long-standing tradition of caring for New Bedford residents in need, a legacy dating back to the early days of the city’s whaling community. Their thoughtful action continues that spirit of compassion and service.

On behalf of the many older adults who rely on Coastline’s meal programs each day, we thank the New Bedford Friends for their kindness and partnership in caring for our neighbors.

When vision loss creates new obstacles, Assistive Technology Trainer Charles Meyers helps people find ways to stay independent and engaged. In this month’s Senior Scope, Charles shares one of his favorite solutions: Be My Eyes, an app that pairs users with volunteers through a simple smartphone connection to provide real-time visual assistance. Even those new to technology can use it with ease.
