Its cold again here in Wisconsin 😱 and time for soup - hearty, warm, nourishing, and so easy to put together. Here's the recipe and try it! Teenagers approved as well!

Ingredients:
Onion 1 medium
Garlic 4 to 6 cloves
Jalapeño pepper per taste
Olive oil for sauté
corn kernels 1 cup
Can of black beans
Tomatoes 1 small
Salsa or Pico de gallo - I used medium salsa - about a cup of it.
Cilantro
Taco or fajita seasoning 2 tbsp.
Avocados
Tortilla chips
Bone broth or buillion
Chicken
Salt
Turmeric (because, why not and I am Indian origin 🙃)
Chilli powder or paprika
Cumin seeds
Lime juice
1 green bell pepper

Sour cream optional.

Prep: clean and cut chicken into thin 1 to 2 inch long strips. Marinate with salt and lime juice. Set aside.

Cook: heat oil in a heavy bottom steel pan. Saute cumin seeds, chopped onion, garlic, sliced jalapeño - in this order. When onion is slightly brown, add the chicken and sauce well until slightly brown. Next add tomatoes, salsa, black beans and corn and cook well. Then add all the spices - paprika, turmeric, fajita seasoning. Cook for a few min and let the flavors all come together. Finally add broth or prepared buillion water and simmer for 10 to 15 min until all the ingredients are cooked and come together. Finally, add copped green bell pepper (I don't like to over cook this), taste for salt and adjust as needed. When almost done, garnish with cilantro. Your soup is ready.

When serving, serve generous amount in a bowl. Garnish with cubes of avocado, cilantro and chips. Can also add sour cream if needed.

Use organic ingredients. I purchased everything from Costco. I have mentioned approximate quantities, because I am an intuitive chef. I work with what I have.
Play with this recipe. Use your sense of smell and taste to guide you in making this dish to your liking ♥️
Enjoy and lmk how it came out.

I’ve seen this story more times than I can count…

Years of diagnoses. Medications. And still no one asking the deeper question.

And then something shifts.

This was a moment in time when he had just come out of his misery, newly free of symptoms.
Within a few years, he built a life he once thought was impossible… a steady career, a loving partner, a home of his own.

A life of his choosing.

This is what I want for you.

If you saw yourself in his story, I want you to know… you can heal too.

If you’re ready for a different approach, I’ll walk you through it in my FREE masterclass

Health benefits of Ugadi Pachidi. All the 6 flavors in this dish help us transition from winter to spring. Spring is Kapha season and can bring with it mucous-y illnesses such as allergies and sinus problems. In winter we accumulate excess Kapha and now it is time to shed. Bitter foods such as neem flowers will help us do exactly that.

Ayurveda emphasizes 'Ritucharya' or seasonal practices to help us stay aligned with nature and in balance within. Tradition such as this pachidi helps incorporate Ayurvedic wisdom in an easy, practical way within a fun filled festival.

Tradition, rituals and cultural practices are not just symbols of following a religion or group. Rituals of many indegenous cultures of the world are representative of nature's rhythms. Such rituals remind us of our connection with nature, our similarities with nature and thus keep us grounded, rooted and balanced. They are also a connection to our identity. Rituals enrich our lives, add meaning to an otherwise mundane routine of our lives.

What rituals and tradition do you practice? How does it impact your life? Please share in the comments below.

Sharing about today's significance for South Indians. Today is Ugadi - South Indian New year. Uga = epoch of time, can also be a year. Adi = beginning. Ugadi = New Year. It signifies many cosmic events - Sun entering the Aries sign, spring equinox is close by, onset of spring. Nature is getting ready to bloom new life...

Traditionally, we celebrate with special prayers and special dishes. We make a garland of Mango leaves and hang it over the front door. A very special dish for this festival is ' Ugadi Pachidi' and it has 6 ingredients representing the 6 tastes of a balanced diet (per Ayurveda) and also denotes the 6 flavors of life:

Neem Flowers/Buds (Bitter): Represents sadness or the difficult experiences of life.
Jaggery (Sweet): Represents happiness, joy, and good times.
Raw Mango (Tangy/Astringent): Represents surprises, new experiences, and unexpected events.
Tamarind Juice (Sour): Represents unpleasantness, challenges, and hardships.
Black pepper (Spicy): Represents anger, passion, or frustrations.
Salt (Salty): Represents fear, anxiety, or the uncertainties of the future.

We consume this dish as a reminder that the upcoming year will have all these 6 flavors and our job is to face all of them with equanimity, courage, strength and love.

What we label as OCD or anxiety is often the nervous system trying to create safety in a life that feels unstable.

Most people are told anxiety is something you learn to manage for life.

But in my clinic, I ask a different question.

Why is the nervous system anxious in the first place?

Sometimes it’s unresolved trauma.
Sometimes it’s inflammation.
Sometimes it’s toxic burden.
Sometimes it’s blood sugar instability or gut imbalance.

Breathing and grounding can help regulate the moment. They are powerful tools.

But lasting healing usually requires understanding what is actually driving the anxiety.

Your body is not trying to sabotage you.
It is trying to communicate.

If you want to understand how I investigate anxiety using my Diet–Trauma–Toxins framework, join my free masterclass:
