A proud Army veteran who served in Vietnam, Kerry Lou Hancock dedicated his life to serving others — through 20 years of military service, a career as an Aircraft Electrician at MCAS Cherry Point, and a generous spirit that touched everyone around him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and member of Spring Garden Baptist Church and Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 886. He is survived by his beloved wife Denise, three sons, three sisters, three grandsons, his precious dog Charlie, and many dear friends.

Today, Cotten Funeral Home had the honor and privilege to celebrate the life of Daniel “Buddy” Talvacchio Jr. and lay him to rest at New Bern Memorial Cemetery. Buddy was known by many for his business “Buddy’s Concrete Service, Inc.”

Cotten coordinated with the wonderful members of the Patriot Guard to attend. They set out flags, handed out programs, opened the door for guests, rode in procession to the cemetery, and they even assisted the family as being pall bearers. These men and women have given so much of their time for our country, and they continue to honor each veteran at their funeral service. 🇺🇸

In addition to the Patriot Guard, Cotten made arrangements with Frederick Thompson from Carolina’s Motorcycle Hearse Services, LLC to carry Buddy to New Bern Memorial in a motorcycle caisson. If you knew Buddy, then you knew how much he loved motorcycles. This was truly fitting for Buddy to have his final ride in a classy, motorcycle caisson. Frederick made sure everything was handled with dignity and respect.

The family of Daniel “Buddy” Talvacchio Jr. is very grateful for the men and women from the Patriot Guard, Frederick Thompson, and the New Bern Police Department for escorting Buddy in his final ride. As Buddy would often say, “I cut a wide path.”
