October flew by faster than you can say "Happy Physical Therapy Month!"

At the CarolinaEast Rehabilitation Hospital, we are proud to have 26 incredible members on the Physical Therapy team! Physical Therapy is available for acute care, outpatient, and inpatient rehab, so the wide range of expertise from our PT team is extensive. The staff see patients recovering from strokes, amputations, orthopedic conditions, extensive hospital stays, spinal cord injuries, and other neurological disorders.

Happy belated Physical Therapy Month to this fantastic group! We're so proud to have you on the CarolinaEast team!

Congratulations to Mitzi Holmes, our Rehab Director on her much deserved retirement. Thank you Mitzi for all you have done for the rehab hospital in your four years, from stroke certification, program development and your consistent professionalism. You will truly be missed by the entire team and we wish you the best of luck in the next chapter. Enjoy every minute with family and friends and be sure to take the time to listen to the wind chimes.

A poem for Mitzi from Beth

You came to us from the NC hills,
removed your mittens and scarf.
With only a few days to settle in,
we had our survey with CARF!

You fit right in from the very first day.
We were learning your ways from the start.
And one of the things we figured out fast
is you do love a graph and a chart!

You got us Stroke Certified through the Joint Commish’,
revised every document we’ve got.
No policy or plan was safe from your pen.
Your knowledge has helped us a lot!

You’ve hit some milestones while you’ve been here.
Many changes along the way.
You became a grandmother to Nora Bourne
and decided to embrace your gray.

Now the mountains are calling your name.
You’re drawn to make the move.
I think I can speak for everyone here,
we’re really gonna’ miss your groove.

Today's features Brantley Norman, a patient at the CarolinaEast Rehab Hospital! Brantley is from Oriental, helps run his family's restaurant, and is often seen around town in his golf cart. As part of his therapy, the rehab team wanted to make sure that Brantley could continue to safely use his golf cart once he is discharged.

Thanks to the innovative rehab team and generous maintenance staff, Brantley was able to confirm that he is in fact ready to ride again. Great work, Brantley!
