Since 2012, when some visionary women first brought the global GivingTuesday movement to New Bern, our community has built something truly special. What started as a simple idea has grown into a powerful tradition that connects people, inspires giving, and lifts up the missions that matter most.

Over the years, we’ve gathered at the Chamber of Commerce and the North Carolina History Center to take our annual nonprofit photo, share shout-outs, and celebrate the impact of our local organizations. Over the past five years, we’ve come together at Union Point Park through the "Carry it Forward" event, creating an incredible space for nonprofits and neighbors to connect in person.

This year, we’re unveiling something new.

🎀 Introducing: New Bern Giv3 - GivingTuesday 2025 "Home for the Holidays: A GivingTuesday Celebration 🎀

This December 2, join us under one roof for a cozy, festive evening celebration of local giving. Picture high-top tables, warm cocoa, food trucks, live music, and nonprofits sharing their mission in a space that feels like community at its best.

This new direction honors everything we’ve built together and brings a fresh approach to connect with more people and generate even greater awareness.

A special thank you to Tharesa Lee, whose leadership and passion helped shape GivingTuesday in New Bern. Her influence continues to inspire the work we do.

We cannot wait to celebrate with you. Let’s make this season of giving the most impactful yet.

💙 Help Support Your Free Clinic! 💙

At MERCI Clinic, every act of kindness helps us care for our neighbors. While all of our medical services are provided free of charge, there are everyday supplies that help us keep our doors open and our care compassionate.

🩺 Our current wish list includes:
AAA Batteries (These are used for medical equipment)
AA Batteries (These are used for medical equipment)
CR2032 Batteries (These are used for patient glucometers)
Hand soap
Post It notes

We are glad to pick the supplies up or you are welcome to drop them off at 1315 Tatum Drive, in New Bern, NC. Thank you!

A Fresh New Look, Thanks to the The Rotary Club of New Bern! 🎨

We’re so grateful to Tim Lubsen from the Rotary Club of New Bern for giving our MERCI Clinic benches a beautiful fresh coat of paint! The Rotary Club's work and community spirit have brightened up our space — and our day.

Partnerships like this remind us what makes New Bern so special: neighbors coming together to make a difference.

What a wonderful afternoon! 💙
MERCI Clinic had the pleasure of visiting the Christ Episcopal Church Youth Group this week. It was such a joy to share about our mission, the care we provide, and the many ways our community comes together to make a difference.
A huge thank you to Hanna Hutchens for the kind invitation and for organizing such a thoughtful and welcoming event. We’re so grateful for your support and for the opportunity to connect with such an inspiring group of young people! 🙏✨

‼️If you, or someone you know is experiencing food insecurity please let them know about this RCS Pop-Up Food Distribution event.

Did you know that in America, about one in seven households experienced food insecurity last year? That's a staggering reality.

At RCS, we refuse to let our neighbors go hungry. We are working diligently right here in our community to ensure everyone has access to healthy, nutritious food.

You can receive groceries at our Pop-Up Food Distribution on the following dates this month:

🗓️ Friday, October 24th at 2:00 PM
🗓️ Tuesday, October 28th at 2:00 PM
🗓️ Friday, October 31st at 2:00 PM

Where: RCS Community Kitchen (Cypress Street entrance)

This is a client choice food program—no eligibility requirements! Just remember to bring your own bags to select the items your family needs most.

We’re excited to be part of the upcoming Health and Resource Fair this weekend! Stop by the MERCI Clinic table to learn more about our free medical, dental, and pharmacy services available to uninsured adults in Craven and surrounding counties.

Our team will be there to answer questions, share information on how to become a patient, and connect with community partners who are helping make healthcare more accessible for everyone.
