Getting ready to endure another winter with some coat shopping. Based on one of my routinely conducted informal polls of my clients about 2/3 dislike cold winter weather and 1/3 absolutely love it. If you, like me, aren’t built for the cold, what tips do you have for a successful winter season?

I avoid cold drinks, always wear socks inside, and keep my neck covered. Then no matter my activity, I strive to feel cozy.

Anyone who suggests a cold plunge, I have done many in the ocean, icy lakes and streams, but I’m not feeling it this year. I’m striving to be more gentle with myself.

Sunday meal prepping and getting my balancers in. Based on bioenergetic and muscle testing, my top foods that help me feel my best right now are cauliflower, beef, blackstrap molasses, apples and cinnamon. This is how I am incorporating them:

Merlot and thyme beef roast: 1 c Merlot and 1 c water (or beef stock), pour over meat, add chopped cauliflower and season with salt, pepper and thyme. I threw this in a 325 oven for an hour and a half. Simple enough that you can still taste the meat, yet has a well rounded flavor.

Molasses milk: My go-to hug in a mug. Warm while whisking about a cup of milk with 1-2 teaspoons of blackstrap molasses.

Lazy baked apples: Top each apple half with a generous amount of cinnamon, 2 teaspoons of butter and 1/3 packet of protein oatmeal (that was the lazy part). I picked up the oatmeal at Lidl but I’ve seen it at other stores too. Easy and fast to prepare.
