Reiki was introduced to me when modern medicine failed me. Throughout my life, I had been in multiple auto accidents, resulting in injuries of the spine needing physical therapy. The M.D. treating me, put me thru years of trial & error and a hospital procedure that failed. I was trying every natural, safe, & alternative option available. Each day I became more frustrated as my back pain was growing, depression was taking hold, quickly. As I was losing my health, I was losing hope in finding pain relief. While taking an Arthritic Group Pool Class, I was approached by 2 women who said my energy field was appearing unhealthy. We sat down together in the sauna as they proceeded to give me Reiki. I became aware something was feeling different. When the session ended, we walked out of the sauna and they asked if I felt better. I did not know how to respond. Modern medicine & medication had not been able to accomplish what these 2 kind strangers had done. My pain was GONE. My depression seemed to have stayed on the seat when I stood up. What was this? What happened? I had questions.....during each pool class we had together, I asked more questions. Finally, one day they offered to teach it to me. They had taught for years and were going to teach again to give me this gift to care for myself. In 3 separate ceremonies spanned over nearly a year, I learned Reiki, until I became a Reiki Master.
A stray puppy (hound-dog) on the road I live on, needed healthcare and food. I tried to supply both. Eventually, the pound got to him. So I followed him. I named him Brownie. The next five months, I volunteered at the local dog pound, caring for Brownie & all the dogs. Offering relief with Reiki for mental, emotional & physical issues while waiting to find a home, hopefully. I tried to make their time there less uncomfortable. The staff never quite understood what I did, but were pleased with the results. They would tell me which dogs needed care, inform me of new arrivals, and give me feedback. The adoption rate increased during those 5 months I was there. When most of the dogs including Brownie were adopted, I knew I was on the right path. During this time, I earned my Animal Reiki Master Certification. This gave me the confidence needed for my next adventure.
Southern Ohio Wellness Center offered me to work with patients under doctor supervision. Energy therapy was included in patient treatments when necessary. I began offering Reiki at numerous annual community events and 5K walks (Walk To End Alzheimer’s; Alpha-1; Su***de Awareness sponsored by Shawnee Mental Health Center, and many more). Each year, I am invited to Bellefonte Hospital to provide Reiki at the Women’s Expo and Employees Benefit Fair. A local M.D., has me offer my services at the Ross County Aids Task Force bi-annual benefit shows and a quarterly educational meeting allowing me to share and educate how using energy therapies can benefit a compromised immune system.
January 2017, I began learning Energy Medicine, energy exercises or techniques correcting energy imbalances in the body and activating natural healing abilities. Combining Energy Medicine and Reiki relieves my pain & symptoms and the majority of my patients’. Our patients have really come to enjoy the relief energy healthcare brings.
