PAM Health Specialty and Rehabilitation Hospital of New Braunfels

PAM Health Specialty and Rehabilitation Hospital of New Braunfels Offering long-term acute care and inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. We are the first in the state of Texas and only the 3rd in the Nation.

PAM Health Specialty and Rehabilitation Hospital of New Braunfels is a Joint Commission Accredited, 32 bed, Long-Term Acute Care and Inpatient Rehabilitation hospital. We offer personalized clinical and medical services to those patients who require extended observation and monitoring for complex medical issues. PAM Specialty and Rehabilitation Hospital of New Braunfels is driven to obtain the best possible outcome for our patients. We use an individual care planning process with specific goals to meet the needs of our various patients. A long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) is recommended for those who require complex medical management, therapeutic care and rehabilitation services -- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with daily assessment of the patient by a physician. PAM Specialty Hospital has received the Gold Seal of Approval by the Joint Commission for Respiratory Failure. In our Inpatient Rehabilitation hospital, patients benefit from individualized programs that feature one-on-one therapy, daily physician visits and a nurse/patient ratio that will help them regain their highest level of function and ensure a safe return home. Patients who have experienced stroke, brain injury, neurological disease and deficits, amputations, pulmonary disease, orthopedic conditions, spinal cord injury and medically complex conditions may benefit from inpatient medical rehabilitation. A Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) physician specifically trained in rehabilitation directs the rehabilitation program. Our medical staff is comprised of highly trained medical specialists who

manage any medical issues, providing the most comprehensive medical care for each patient. In addition to medical management, our Therapy Services include: Physical Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Rehabilitation Nursing, and Case Management

Winter sports like skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, snowmobiling, and sledding offer fun and offer exhilarating opportunities to stay active during these colder months.

But winter sports combined with sometimes hazardous winter conditions can increase the risk of a traumatic head injury. Winter Sports Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness Month during January reminds us to stay vigilant and take proper precautions to prevent these types of injuries while still enjoying winter activities.

In the event of a concussion or other TBI, PAM Health's specialized brain injury programs help patients maximize their physical and cognitive recoveries so they can get back to doing the things they love: https://nuvi.me/k9ruh8

Winter can feel like a tough time for staying active. But National Healthy Weight Week January 18-24 is a time to recommit to healthy habits. Start small, set attainable goals, and do activities you enjoy. Just getting your body moving is a great place to start!

Other factors include eating a balanced diet that includes whole foods, cutting back on alcohol and to***co, and getting quality sleep, and giving your body a chance to recharge when it’s needed.

Many of us take our ability to climb stairs for granted, but for some PAM Health patients recovering from an illness or injury, accomplishing a set of stairs in therapy is a major milestone. Tackling stairs – even just a couple at a time - symbolizes regained strength, mobility, and independence to get around at home safely and confidently. If you’re able, take the stairs today in those patients’ honor!

Happy Kwanzaa! First celebrated in 1966, this African-American and pan-African week-long festival highlights themes of history, values, family, community, and culture, drawing inspiration from traditional South Aftrican first-fruits celebrations. In fact, the word “kwanza” means “first” in Swahili. Happy Kwanzaa to all who celebrate!
