We want good health and safety for all of our families. Please call the office to schedule an appointment to discuss the MMR vaccine and measles if you have any questions. Standard dosing of MMR vaccine is 12-15 months and 4 years, assuming there is no measles outbreak. In the event of an outbreak, babies may be given an early dose at 6-11 months but will still need 2 doses after age 1. Bigger children may be given the booster dose after age 1, at least 28 days after dose #1. This booster dose, if given early, will count as the 4 year booster. Thank you for your trust.

Today I share the joy of why I became a pediatrician- to watch my families grow and share the joy, sorrow and life events. I was privileged to be there today with a family that got to ring the bell for the last chemo treatment. Thank you for trusting Bluebonnet Pediatrics with your children. Sick season is here! All the other viruses and Strep took an extended vacation but have returned ready to party. Stay well and call early for sick appointments. Be patient with the increased volume and decreased staff since our families are sick as well. Thank you for trusting us!

Just a reminder of why flu vaccines are important. Flu can be deadly but it will put you out of work, school and activities for a fair period of time. Sick season is in full swing and is likely to last until February to March. We have flu vaccines available by appointment only. Stay well!

We say good luck and Godspeed today to our Physician Assitant Elijah Wood as he embarks on his new stage in life with his fiancé in North Texas. I thank him for the growth and care that he has shared with the patients and families of Bluebonnet Pediatrics over the last year. This is a great resource to answer the questions about the infant formula supply shortage. PLEASE do not water down formula or give goat’s milk or cow’s milk or use homemade formulas. Consider alternate brands including any of the store brands , they are safe and nutritionally sound. Supply tends to be better online, and we also have some samples in office.

​Shortages of infant formulas have occurred in some stores, mostly due to pandemic-related supply chain issues and a recent large-scale recall of contaminated products. Read on for tips for families struggling to find infant formula.
