🚨 VRC ALERT: A cyberattack targeting medical technology giant Stryker has caused a global network disruption, raising concerns across the healthcare sector.

The attack has been claimed by Handala (also known as Hatef or Hamsa), a threat actor reportedly linked to the Iranian regime. They claim to have:
• Wiped data from over 200,000 systems, servers, and mobile devices.
• Extracted around 50TB of data.
• Forced office shutdowns in 79 countries.
Reports describe it as a wiper-style attack (destructive data erasure, often via compromised endpoint management tools like Microsoft Intune).

While the company has stated the incident appears contained and not linked to ransomware, the situation highlights a growing concern for healthcare organizations: nation-state–linked cyber threats targeting healthcare infrastructure and medical technology systems.

When healthcare systems, devices, or communications platforms are disrupted (even briefly), it can affect clinical workflows, emergency response coordination, and patient data transmission. This is why healthcare organizations must focus on cybersecurity readiness, workforce awareness, and proactive risk management.
