It’s a reflection.
A thank you.

When I was 20 years old I used to daydream about the person I would become.

I never could have predicted becoming a mom to three cool and amazing kids -3 lives that would reshape my heart, my priorities, and my definition of purpose.

I never imagined that at 20 years old, I would meet the person who would become my lifetime partner, someone who would walk alongside me through every version of growth, challenge, and change.

I also didn’t know then how deeply my parents had already shaped me and my foundation, my work ethic, my resilience.

What I’ve come to realize is this -
every single person I’ve crossed paths with in the last 40 years have left a mark. Some in big ways. Some in small. But all of them, in some form, helped shape who I’ve become.

I never saw myself owning a business.
I never imagined creating a space where people could feel valued and empowered.
A place where clinicians could be themselves, be autonomous, and truly thrive in the work they do.

That wasn’t part of the plan.
But somehow, it became part of the purpose.

So this isn’t a post about accomplishments.
It’s not about milestones. It’s about gratitude.

Gratitude for the people who poured into me.
The ones who challenged me.
The ones who believed in me before I fully believed in myself.

In youth softball pitchers, shoulder pain isn’t just about strength, it’s about how the body moves together. When timing, sequencing, and control break down, stress shifts to the shoulder.

Here’s what to watch for:
🔸 Arm circle out of sync with the body
🔸 Lower half instability (drive + plant leg)
🔸 Poor trunk rotation + scapular control

The fix isn’t just “get stronger.”
It’s:
âś… Fix timing
âś… Control the body
âś… THEN build strength

🎯Proximal control drives distal load.
Translation? If the body isn’t working together, the shoulder takes the hit.

🛑Most rehab stops at bands and light weights…Get creative! Backward bear crawls may be one of the most underrated shoulder exercises.

Here’s why:

✔️ Closed-chain stability → builds joint integrity instead of just isolated strength
✔️ Serratus anterior activation → key for upward rotation + scapular control
✔️ Co-contraction of the rotator cuff → improves dynamic stability
✔️ Load acceptance through the shoulder → teaches your body to handle force

Most parents are told the same thing when their kid has shoulder pain:

“Just rest.”
“Ice it.”
“Take some time off.”

And maybe it helps…temporarily. But then the pain comes back the second they start throwing again.

That’s because it’s usually NOT just overuse.

What we see over and over with baseball and softball players:

❌Weak rotator cuff strength
❌Poor strength balance
❌Slow muscle activation
❌Shoulder instability under load

👉 In other words… the shoulder isn’t prepared for the demands of throwing.

This is exactly why we use VALD testing

It shows us:
âś” How strong the shoulder actually is
âś” How fast it can stabilize
âś” Where asymmetries exist
✔ What’s breaking down under load

So we’re not guessing ➡️ We’re fixing the actual problem.
