🌿What Does “Shamanic” Mean in Shamanic Breathwork?
A gentle explanation for our faith based community
I want to take a moment to lovingly clarify something that can sound unfamiliar or even concerning at first: the word “shamanic.”
For many people raised in faith based homes, the word can feel intimidating or misunderstood. That’s completely valid. My intention is never to create fear or conflict with faith, only understanding.
✨ So what is a shaman, really?
At its core, a shaman is simply a helper, guide, or healer—someone who supports others in reconnecting with their inner wisdom, emotional healing, and relationship with God/Source/Creator.
Historically, shamans existed in every culture, including Indigenous, Celtic, African, and even early biblical communities. They were:
• Prayer holders
• Wisdom keepers
• Community healers
• Guides through grief, trauma, and life transitions
They did not replace God.
They did not ask for worship.
They did not operate from evil.
They helped people heal, pray, repent, release burdens, and return to alignment.
✨ How this relates to Shamanic Breathwork
Shamanic breathwork is not a religion.
It does not ask you to abandon your faith.
It does not involve spirits, demons, or anything dark.
It is simply:
• Intentional breathing
• Prayerful inward reflection
• Nervous system regulation
• Emotional release
• Healing stored trauma
Many Christians experience it similarly to:
• Deep prayer
• Fasting
• Laying on of hands
• Worship that moves the body
• Quiet time where God speaks to the heart
Breath is God-given.
“Then the Lord God formed man… and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.” – Genesis 2:7
✨ There is nothing evil about healing
Jesus (Yeshua) Himself healed through:
• Touch
• Presence
• Compassion
• Breath and spirit
Supporting the body, calming the nervous system, and allowing emotional healing is not against God—it is often how people come closer to Him.
