Safety Tip: Adjust Heights for Ambulatory Aids
When using ambulatory aids like walkers, canes, and crutches make sure to properly adjust the height before using the device. It is recommended that the height of the handgrip(s) should provide a 20-30 degree bend in the elbow when you are standing straight.
You would know that it is in the proper height if you can safely stand for a few moments, look straight ahead with your shoulders squared, and your arms hanging relaxed at your sides. Also, remember to do not attempt to stand if you cannot do so safely.
