🌎 Spring Equinox

Today is the Spring equinox, or the day the sun passes over the equator and shines its warm rays on those of us in the northern hemisphere. Today, Earth gets ready to welcome Spring and Summer to nearly 90% of the human population. As we prepare for the rain showers and budding flowers, consider taking a moment to reflect on this Winter. What was generative that you want to carry forward from that time of dark and cold? What things do you want to “leave behind” or to let go of as things thaw and begin to flow again? As light and warmth return, what growth do you want to nurture in yourself or others? Now, we can turn our faces to feel the warmth of the sun (with your eyes closed!) and let that serve as a reminer to orient toward stubborn hope for good things to come.

⏰ Daylight Savings

Some of us were in for a rude awakening this Sunday morning when our peaceful slumber was so rudely interrupted by Daylight Savings Time. And, while it sure would be nice to get that hour of sleep back, we get more sunlight in our day than before - and research supports benefits of bright, natural light and vitamin D for healthy mood. As we begin to emerge from the cold and dark of winter, getting out in nature and enjoying the gift of sunlight just may give your mental health a little boost. Beginning new rhythms to establish healthy patterns for wellbeing can be challenging, and our clinicians would love to support you in making changes so you can let in a little more light as Minnesota begins its transformation from frozen to flourishing.

đź’¨ The Healing Power of Breath

During a hectic day or in the face of stressful events in our communities, our breath can be a helpful tool for grounding ourselves. Taking even just three minutes in a quiet, safe space to slow and steady our breath can help send the message to our bodies and minds that “in this moment, I am okay.”

Try this: Close your eyes, or soften your gaze. Without trying to force the breath in any way, pay attention to how your body moves each time you inhale and exhale. Perhaps you notice a subtle rising and falling sensation. If it feels right, invite a slight deepening of the inhale and a bit of a lengthening of the exhale. After a few moments, begin counting with each breath, one with the inhale, two with the exhale; three with the inhale, four with the exhale. Do this to the count of ten and then start over. Find your way through this rhythm several times - returning if you find your thougths drift - and check in with yourself after a few minutes of intentional, soothing breath. Do you notice feeling a little more settled in your body and mind? A tiny bit more steady in your thoughts and emotions? If you are interested in learning more about how the breath can contribute to a healthy mind and body, our therapists love to teach you some helpful tools - tailored just for you.

🌀 Change can be uncomfortable—even when it’s leading to something better. As you adjust to new rhythms in life, take time to slow down and check in with yourself. Use this journal prompt to reflect and realign:

▫️ What changes am I currently navigating, big or small?
▫️ How does my body respond to transition—what signs do I notice?
▫️ What helps me feel grounded when things are shifting?
▫️ Who or what brings me comfort during seasons of change?
▫️ What would it look like to embrace this transition with grace?
▫️ What’s one small ritual I could try this week to support balance?

🎉 Happy New Year!

As we welcome 2026, consider trading resolutions for intentions.
Instead of chasing someone else’s version of “better,” ask:

▫️ What truly matters to me?
▫️ Which values do I want to embody more this year?

Intentions act like a compass—not a pass/fail test. Let this be a year of grace, learning, and small choices aligned with your heart.

đź’« Progress, not perfection.
đź’š Growth, not pressure.
✨ Intention, not obligation.
