Big announcement!
Hi friends, Lisa De Sousa here, owner of Compass. There’s no way to do this without making it a long post, so I’ll cut straight to the chase and for those who wish to continue reading, I will further explain.
Compass Wellness Center will be closing its doors on June 30th of this year. The first big question: what does this mean for the businesses that call Compass home? Well some do not even know the answer to that yet. They are looking at new office spaces and figuring out where this decision will lead them in their next chapter. For myself, I am solidifying plans for a small office that I will continue to see my massage clients in, and will stay local to central CT. I will share more detailed information as plans become solid. I urge you to stay in touch with and follow your favorite businesses that reside at Compass as I’m sure they will update you all with concrete plans as they become available. Until then, we hope you all continue to support us small businesses as we navigate this transition and we rely on you more than ever!
As women, we wear many hats. As business owners, we can’t even count how many hats we wear. For seven incredible years I wore the hats of licensed massage therapist, certified birth doula, and owner of Compass, in addition to being a wife and mother. As women we are taught to be strong, fearless, ambitious, and to reach for the sky. Anything is possible. I think that being strong can also be knowing when its time to change course, knowing that you have just too many hats, and its time to lighten the load in order to once again thrive, and not just survive. This decision is both a business decision and a personal one. Compass needed me to give 120% to pull it out of its struggles, and my family needs 150% of me right now. So with the end of a lease coming up soon, it was time to make this very difficult decision.
Compass has been like a baby to me. And like a new mother, I had no clue what I was doing when I started this place. No business degree, no true idea what parameters I should use to run this business, I just learned along the way. I think I made some really good decisions, and failed in others. But I think I created something really special that I will forever be proud of. There are countless people who made this place so special, especially our loyal patrons and community that shared their love for Compass with all their friends and family and helped us to grow. And for all those who this decision impacts, I hope you can understand how hard this decision was for me and how much thought went into recognizing that this is what’s best.
So from the bottom of my heart, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has ever supported Compass. And I hope you are able to continue to support the incredible women that I share this space with and I will forever continue to support them myself.
