September is National Recovery Month. We join our RWJBarnabas Health Institute for Prevention & Recovery team in recognizing all who have been impacted by substance use disorder and offering help for anyone on their recovery journey and their loved ones who support them.

A special moment at the Jersey Shore BlueClaws game!

Our incredible patient and long-time team member, Sara Adair, and her son had the honor of throwing out the first pitch during RWJBarnabas Health’s Amazing Saves Night. After suffering from a tear in her heart’s aorta, Sara is now well on the way to recovery.

RWJBarnabas Health is proud to be the official healthcare provider for the Jersey Shore BlueClaws.

What a night!

The Artists Mentoring Against Racism, Drugs & Violence (AMARD&V) Healing Through the Arts Summer Program celebrated its 29th Anniversary last week with a Night of Artistic Expression at Paul Robeson Community School in New Brunswick. The theme of this year’s showcase was, “Our Voice, Our Power: Creating Change Through Arts and Wellness.” It featured dance, multimedia performance, sculpture, visual arts, animation, podcasting, video production that was produced by 50 youths from this year’s program.

Led by RWJUH’s Community Health Promotions Program, AMARD&V Healing Through the Arts seeks to reduce bias and promote positive behaviors in young people through a combination of arts education, health literacy and life skills workshops and recreational activities. It began in 1996 through a partnership between RWJUH’s Community Health Promotions Program, the Rutgers Collaborative Center for Community Engagement, the Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts, the New Brunswick Cultural Center, the Puerto Rican Action Board, the New Brunswick Public Schools and the Suydam Street Reformed Church.
