Meet Missy! 🌸
A long time yoga practitioner, Missy achieved her goal of becoming a teacher by graduating from Sama Academy’s 200-Hour YTT program. Her playful and warm spirit is infectious as she curates her classes to build strength, awareness and harmony from our bones to our brain.

Off the mat, Missy is a mother to two teenage daughters and two precious dogs. She loves pickleball, tennis, and perfecting her sourdough recipe.

Practice Vinyasa with Missy every Saturday morning at 8:30am—in the garden this summer, and always at our studio! 💫

Behind the Pose: Goddess Pose ☀️

Root down, rise up, and take up space. Goddess is all about power and presence.

This fiery pose strengthens the legs, opens the hips and chest, and invites us to embody fierce grace. With every breath, we ground into the earth while lifting through the heart. Goddess reminds us that strength and softness can coexist.

In Sanskrit, Goddess is “Utkata Konāsana.”
Utkata: “Powerful” or “Fierce”
Kona: “Angle”
Āsana: “Pose”

Meet Addie! 💐🧘‍♀️

Addie’s sweetness, fire and kindness inspires us to move and have fun no matter what life throws at us. As the leader of our Wednesday afternoon Kids Yoga classes, her playful personality thrives in inspiring our young yogis to calm their minds and flip their perspectives—literally and figuratively!

Addie is dedicated to her practice both on and off the mat, always looking to further her yoga education. After completing her initial 200-hour YTT in Philadelphia, she went on to graduate from both Sama Academy’s 200-hour and Kids Yoga Teacher trainings.

Behind the Pose: Toe Balance Pose ⚖️

Lift your heels and draw everything in. This is a pose of balance, focus, and quiet strength.

This powerful posture strengthens the ankles and challenges your stability as you lift through the crown of your head. It teaches us how to stay steady even as the world moves around us. The concentration required to hold the pose is even known to enhance memory and focus! 🧠

In Sanskrit, Toe Balance Pose is “Prapadāsana.”
Pra: “Forward” or “intensely.”
Pada: “Foot.”
Āsana: “Pose.”

The wait is finally over... outdoor garden classes are coming back to Sama! ☀️🌿

Our Thursday 6:15pm vinyasa and 8:30am Saturday vinyasa classes will both be held in the garden, weather permitting, beginning now until Labor Day. In the event of rain or excessive heat, classes will be held inside our studio.

We are so excited to continue this Sama tradition and welcome you to unwind in our meditation garden while enjoying some of your favorite classes. Secure your spot in the sunshine—we’ll meet you there!
