Cardiometabolic care isn’t one-size-fits-all — and it shouldn’t be treated that way.

Obesity, diabetes, and hypertension don’t follow the same path. So why do so many benefit programs rely on disconnected, one-size-fits-all solutions?

At FlyteHealth, we meet people where they are — whether that means:
✅ Medical treatment and behavioral support
✅ A short-term coaching boost
✅ Or help coordinating care across multiple providers and platforms

We don’t just add another app. We deliver real, connected care across medical, behavioral, and social needs — because personalization isn’t optional. It’s essential.

FlyteHealth clinical advisor Dr. Ania Jastreboff shared insights on Oprah’s podcast about how GLP-1 meds like Ozempic impact mental and physical health. She discussed how they reduce “food noise” and change societal views on body image. Dr. Jastreboff emphasizes personalized, compassionate care for those navigating obesity as a chronic disease.

The 70-year-old made the candid confession during a recent episode of her podcast.

The definition of obesity is evolving.

The Lancet Commission on Clinical Obesity has released a global consensus report that moves beyond BMI to focus on how obesity impacts overall health. This significant shift, supported by over 70 patient, professional, and scientific organizations, reflects a deeper understanding of obesity as a complex, chronic disease.

Rather than relying solely on BMI, the new definitions focus on how excess fat impacts organs and contributes to health challenges. This change paves the way for personalized care, helping patients receive treatment tailored to their unique needs.

At FlyteHealth, we’re inspired by these changes and committed to providing evidence-based, patient-centered obesity care. We’re excited to see the medical community take meaningful steps to reduce stigma and improve how obesity is understood and treated.

Together, we can empower patients to achieve better health and a higher quality of life. 💙

Discover how The Lancet's new global obesity definitions, supported by the OAC, shift focus away from BMI and toward health.

42% of Americans have obesity, which is a contributor to five of the top ten most costly chronic diseases. One in three of these individuals have two or more chronic conditions.

The only true way to help individuals living with obesity is to combine clinical management through the appropriate prescribing of GLP-1s and lower cost medications with lifestyle management via AI-based apps and connected devices to modify behavior over time. That’s the approach FlyteHealth takes, and it’s what sets us apart from the competition.

A team of more than 50 doctors and scientists has redefined obesity with a more nuanced approach and new diagnostic standards. While not involved in the report, our co-founder Katherine Saunders, MD, praised The Lancet Commission on Clinical Obesity for its groundbreaking work in “legitimiz[ing] obesity as a real disease.” Dr. Saunders also agrees with the report’s emphasis on using measures beyond BMI—like body composition and overall health assessments—to better understand and treat obesity.

A more scientific definition of obesity should guide decisions about weight loss treatment, researchers argue

Important updates for obesity medicine! New diagnostic categories have been recommended by The Lancet Commission on Clinical Obesity.

Although the new definitions on obesity have been endorsed by more than 75 medical organizations around the world, FlyteHealth co-founder Katherine Saunders, MD, cautions that “For a new classification system to be widely adopted, it would also need to be extremely quick, inexpensive, and reliable."
