The Delaware National Guard SAPR Team welcomed the Delaware Alliance Against Sexual Violence - DAASV today for an open and collaborative discussion on the vital roles both men and women play in preventing and addressing sexual violence. Bringing together voices from both the military and civilian communities, the conversation highlighted the power of unity and shared responsibility. On Wednesday, April 30, 2025 the Delaware National Guard Army and 166th Airlift Wing participated in international Denim Day. The Denim Day movement started in 1999 in protest of a 1992 conviction of sexual assault being overturned by the Italian Supreme Court. Simply stated, the argument was that the woman was wearing jeans that were so tight she must have given consent.

Wearing jeans or denim clothing on this day expresses our support for sexual assault survivors. It brings awareness that what a person is wearing does not matter; clear and freely given CONSENT does.

The Delaware National Guard Sexual Assault Prevention and Response - SAPR team is available 24/7 to provide support at (302) 326-SARC (7272).

Thanks go out to all our Delaware National Guard / 166th Airlift Wing members that participated in Teal Tuesday by wearing teal clothing and accessories in observation of SAAPM2025. The color teal is also associated with trust, calmness, and healing, which are considered to be important in the context of sexual violence.
