One last thing as we close out Public Health Week, we want to take a moment to honor and celebrate the recent retirement of Angela Cox for her remarkable service to Henry County.

For the past eight plus years, Angela has been a dedicated leader, guiding the Health Department through growth, change, and transformation. Her commitment to improving the health of our community has strengthened programs, expanded partnerships, and shaped a more responsive and resilient public health system.

Her leadership was especially impactful during the COVID-19 pandemic, where she helped navigate uncertainty with clarity, compassion, and a steady focus on protecting our residents.

Angela leaves a legacy of service, innovation, and care that will continue to benefit Henry County for years to come.

Please join us in thanking her for her years of dedication and service to Henry County and wishing her all the best in her next chapter!

As National Public Health Week comes to a close, we want to recognize the people who make this work possible, our staff.

Public health is not just programs and services. It is the dedicated individuals who show up every day to serve this community. Their work often happens quietly, but its impact is felt across Henry County.

From our Nursing, Environmental Health & Vital Records staff, our L;ve Coalition Staff, the Board of Health (pictured) and our Administrative and Jail staff (not pictured) each person plays a vital role in protecting and improving the health of our community.

We are proud of this team and grateful for their commitment to public service.

Please join us in thanking our public health workforce.

Mental health is public health.

We recognize the impact that mental health challenges and substance use have on individuals, families, and our entire community.

That is why we are committed to expanding education, outreach, and support services while continuing to reduce stigma and connect people to care.

Recovery is possible, and no one in our community should have to face these challenges alone.

If you are struggling with mental health reach out and we can assist in finding the right fit or call 988!

Public health starts with prevention.

In our community, that means helping people stay healthy before problems begin through education, screenings, outreach, and access to resources.

Whether it is supporting healthy lifestyles, addressing chronic disease, or removing barriers to care, prevention is one of the most powerful tools we have.

When we invest in prevention, we invest in a stronger future for everyone in Henry County.

Your Voice. Your Health. Your Community

04/07/2026

It’s National Public Health Week.

Public health is about prevention, protection, and making sure every person in our community has the opportunity to live a healthy life.

Here in Henry County, that work happens every day, often behind the scenes. From disease prevention and health education to emergency preparedness and outreach, our team is working to keep our community safe and well.

This week, we are proud to share more about what public health looks like right here at home.

Your Voice. Your Health. Your Community.

We had a great time connecting with the Foster Grandparent Program to share more about the LIVE Coalition and the important work happening right here in our community!

We also provided QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training, giving participants the tools and confidence to recognize the warning signs of su***de and help someone in crisis. These conversations matter, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to equip more caring adults with life-saving skills.

Thank you to the Foster Grandparent Program for your dedication to supporting and uplifting others. You are truly making a difference every day. πŸ’™

If your organization is interested in learning more about the Live Coalition or scheduling a QPR training, reach out to us. We would love to connect!

03/26/2026

Su***de is often thought of as a problem affecting young people, but in Henry County the majority of su***de deaths occur among adults age 55 and older.

Older adults may face life changes that can increase emotional stress, including:
β€’ Loss of a spouse or close friends
β€’ Chronic illness or ongoing pain
β€’ Retirement or loss of purpose
β€’ Social isolation
β€’ Increased caregiving responsibilities

Because family members and caregivers spend the most time with older adults, they are often the first to notice when something has changed.

Learning how to recognize the warning signs and respond can make a difference. Our upcoming QPR Su***de Prevention Training will help caregivers and community members learn simple steps to support someone who may be struggling.
