Recently received a summer newsletter from Wetzsel seeds with summer planting guide. Thought I would pass these on: Okra will produce pods into the fall, Cucumbers Straight 8's , Radishes - try Cherry Belle - ready in 30 days, Bush Beans with 60 day maturity ( we have contenders, french filet and a yellow bean I just forgot the name of!!!, turnips - greens now - roots in fall, lettuce and greens planted in partial shade, well watered for fall salads. basil - keep pinching off the flower and start rosemary now for next year. You thought you were done planting the garden for this year. Thank you for all you do. We appreciate you. We still have seeds. Be seeing you at The Emporium.

Something new at The Emporium, which is something old! Watermelon Rind Pickles! How many remember them? Also we have candied Jalapeno Peppers! Both are these are just too sweet. Be seeing you at The Emporium.

April 19, 1775 - Lexington Green - "the shot heard round the world" - started the American Revolution 250 years ago. If you are not familiar with this event - come by and speak with Mr. Phil. Virginia-one of the original colonies - has a VA250.org site - with events celebrating 250 years of independence around the Commonwealth. Craig County will hold an event in New Castle, May 10th, I have heard, from 10am - 2pm - plan to be there if you can. Be seeing you at The Emporium.

I have been terribly remiss and have neglected my page. Too busy with other stuff - one of the "other" - is seeds are in at The Emporium. Like previous years we have Southern Exposure Organic Seed and Wetzel Seeds, both Virginia companies. Be seeing you at The Emporium. Yum- Shoo Fly Pie mix - everything except the pie crust to make this PA Dutch dessert. Also, we had a request from a customer for Water Street Deli Pita Chips - she says they are the best - give them a try! Ok my - the picture is sideways - what a day - scroll down please.
