May is always a special time at IDHS as national EMS Week allows the agency to highlight the critical work done by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) across Indiana. This year marks the 50th anniversary since former President Gerald Ford declared a national EMS Week to celebrate EMS professionals.

More than 24,000 Hoosiers hold some sort of EMS certification, and many dedicate their lives to responding to emergency calls when citizens need them the most. The EMS system is a complex network of providers of all sizes, each connected closely to their first responder and hospital communities.

With the advancement of Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) and community paramedicine, EMS is more engrained in the health and safety of the community than ever before.

IDHS has requested Gov. Eric J. Holcomb declare May 19-25 as Indiana EMS Week, to coincide with the national recognition.

EMS personnel are asked to complete this form to recognize one of your EMS teammates for recognition during Indiana EMS Week. The brief survey provides a forum for these health professionals to be honored on IDHS social media and communication materials during the week. Please share why your teammate should be recognized (include a story from the past year if possible) and submit a photo.

Checking to see if their is any interest in a NHA 4 month Cetified Phlebotomy course starting in February. This course is 80 % on line with approximatley 5 Sunday sessions for the hands on.
