The two most critical factors in CPR are rate and depth. You need to push hard and push fast! For adults, aim for at least 2 inches deep and a rate of 100 to 120 compressions per minute. This is roughly the rhythm of the song "Stayin' Alive." Don't worry about achieving perfect technique. In an emergency, any attempt is better than none, but a trained attempt is best.
