This past October, Chief Residents Juan Nogues and Maria Mavrommatis set off to Santa Marta, Colombia with Healing the Children Northeast (HTCNE) for their annual cleft lip and palate trip! They accompanied Facial Plastics faculty Mingyang Gray and Peds ENT Lianne De Serres, along with team leader and HTCNE legend Sean Alemi. 4 days, 78 surgeries, and a lifetime of gratitude, humility, and appreciation for our growing global health network! We’re so proud of our residents for broadening their horizons and advancing the incredible care HTCNE provides across the globe!

Two of our Chief Residents, Maria Mavrommatis and Katherine Liu spent their mini-fellowship rotation studying under worldclass rhinoplasty expert Yong Ju Jang at Asan Medical Center in Seoul, South Korea! They learned principles of dorsal augmentation, became active consumers of K-beauty skincare, joined BTS Army, and reluctantly came home to teach us all their new tricks! We’re so proud of them, and we hope this is the start of a long international relationship between Mount Sinai and Asan Medical!

Stryker hosted our 4th annual Junior Resident Rhinology Dissection Course last weekend at their Mahwah headquarters. Junior residents were able to work through basic sinus skills and complete a full fess with senior residents and faculty providing guidance, motivation and a little banter. Thank you to Stryker for the hospitality and an amazing venue.
