An upper blepharoplasty is typically performed as an outpatient procedure. During surgery, excess skin and, when appropriate, small amounts of fat are carefully removed to reduce the heaviness of the upper eyelids. Incisions are placed within the natural eyelid crease, allowing scars to heal discreetly and become minimally noticeable over time.

In this case, the patient also had excess fat carefully removed from the lower eyelids to smooth under-eye fullness and create a more refreshed, balanced appearance.

At around 1 month of healing, it is completely normal for scars to still feel slightly textured, firm, or lumpy as the tissues continue to remodel. Over the next several months, swelling continues to resolve, and the incision lines soften and flatten, revealing a smoother, more natural, and refreshed look.

A truly special Grand Rounds at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital with visiting lecturer Dr. Kyle Godfrey.

Dr. Godfrey played an instrumental role in my fellowship training, and I remain deeply grateful for the generosity, discipline, and intellectual rigor he shared during those formative years. He is not only an exceptional surgeon, but one of the most thoughtful and committed educators in our field.

Welcoming him back to — as a fellow alumnus — to present his pioneering work in transorbital neurosurgery felt especially meaningful. It was a full-circle moment and a powerful reminder of how mentorship shapes our careers, expands our opportunities, and strengthens our profession. I’m sincerely thankful for his continued guidance and for the foundation he helped build.

A meaningful morning spent in Grand Rounds with Northwell Endocrinology, engaging in interdisciplinary discussion around thyroid eye disease. These conversations are invaluable. We share patients, perspectives, and responsibility for navigating a condition that is both complex and deeply impactful. Expanding our collective understanding allows us to deliver more thoughtful, coordinated care and ultimately better outcomes.

Grateful for the opportunity to learn from one another and continue advancing how we care for our patients.

Earlobes can lose volume over time due to aging, genetics, or years of wearing heavy earrings, but many patients are surprised to learn that restoration can be simple and completely non-surgical. Using hyaluronic acid filler or microfat grafting, I can gently replenish lost volume, strengthen the tissue, and recreate a smooth, natural contour. The treatment takes just minutes, requires little to no downtime, and can dramatically improve how earrings sit while subtly refreshing your overall appearance.

It’s a small enhancement that makes a meaningful difference. Click the link below to schedule a consultation.

Honored to return to Columbia for the second year in a row to speak at the Basic Science Course in Ophthalmology. It’s always a privilege to contribute to the education of ophthalmologists in training and to engage in meaningful discussion around complex orbital pathology. Grateful for the opportunity to teach and learn alongside such a dedicated group.

One of my favorite parts of working in the hospital is teaching residents, and today, we are learning about Botox. 💉

Understanding facial anatomy, respecting muscle function, and using proper technique are what create natural, predictable outcomes for patients and for physicians learning the craft.

Mohs reconstructive surgery is a journey, and I believe that understanding what to expect during recovery can make the entire process feel far less overwhelming. On the day of surgery, most patients experience minimal discomfort thanks to local anesthesia. In the days that follow, it’s completely normal to see swelling or bruising around the repair site, and sutures may be visible.

Over the next one to two weeks, sutures are typically removed, and we begin focused scar optimization strategies to support proper healing and long-term aesthetic outcomes. In the months that follow, results continue to refine as swelling resolves, scars soften, and the reconstruction blends more naturally with the surrounding tissue.

My goal with every Mohs reconstruction is not only to restore function, but to do so in a way that looks natural and helps patients feel confident as they heal. Thoughtful planning, meticulous surgical technique, and personalized follow-up care all play a critical role in achieving the best possible outcome both medically and aesthetically.

If you’re preparing for Mohs surgery or considering reconstruction, I encourage you to schedule a consultation at the link below to discuss your personalized treatment and recovery plan.
