Did you know that for centuries, caring for the departed was traditionally a woman's role? This act of love evolved over time, but compassion remains at its core.

During Women’s History Month, we honor Henrietta Duterte, who reclaimed this space with dignity. After her husband's death in 1858, she became the first female funeral director in the U.S. and a trailblazer in a male-dominated industry. She even supported the Underground Railroad by hiding freedom seekers in coffins.

Henrietta's legacy shows that compassion knows no gender. We remember her contributions today.
