Here are some tips to help manage arthritis in hot weather:

*Stay cool
*Stay in the shade, wear natural fabrics, and avoid spending time in the sun during the hottest hours of the day. You can also try a cooling ointment or spray.
**Stay hydrated
**Drink plenty of water and limit your alcohol and caffeine consumption.** Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, which are naturally hydrating, and smoothies.
*Protect your skin
***If you're taking non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or other arthritis treatment medications that can increase your sensitivity to light, take extra precautions when exposed to the sun and heat. You can cover up with a hat and light-colored clothing.
*Avoid extra heat
*Turn off lights, electronics, and appliances that make your rooms warmer. Avoid making meals that require a stove or oven.
*For arthritis symptoms, high temperatures and humidity can reduce the level or thickness of fluid around your joints, which can cause pain.
