Starting Monday, August 11, Iโ€™ll be offering community acupuncture at Yoga and Wellness (27 W. Main Street, Little Falls, NY)! Iโ€™ll be there every Monday from 10amโ€“2pm offering affordable, group-style acupuncture to help you feel better naturally. ๐ŸŒฑโœจ

A little about me: Iโ€™m a licensed acupuncturist, nationally certified (NCCAOM), and received my Masterโ€™s from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in NYC, where I completed an externship at St. Vincentโ€™s Hospitalโ€™s HIV outpatient center. I also hold a Doctorate of Chiropractic from NY Chiropractic College, and practiced in NYC for 7 years. Iโ€™m also trained in Craniosacral Therapy.

Before moving to Upstate NY, I ran a community acupuncture clinic on Cape Cod for 8 years, and Iโ€™m so happy to now offer this style of care in Little Falls. Community acupuncture makes healing more accessible, relaxing, and affordable โ€” all in a peaceful group setting.

Strawberries...such an iconic summer fruit a full moon is even named after them.
While we all know they are rich in vit c, lesser known benefits include moistening the lungs (relieving sore throats and hoarseness), alleviating painful urination and the inability to urinate and the renewal of liver cells.

Get in the water!
Swimming is one of the best exercises for you. Especially for people suffering pain in their knees, ankles, hips and back. Being weightless is the easiest on joints and one of the best to help arthritis, fibromyalgia and obesity. Don't just limit yourself to freestyle, switch it up and do the breaststroke to really open the hips and move the knees. Your body will thank you.

After all this shoveling our bodies are WRECKED!
Healing yoga/ Restorative yoga/ Yin yoga (whichever term you use) is one of the BEST exercises you can do right now. Shoveling out in the cold and windy weather makes our muscles tight, our joints stiff, and our backs sore. This is the time we are most prone to injury.
Restorative yoga is a slow gentle stretch done with pillows and blankets to support our bodies to help deepen the stretch. It relaxes muscles, opens joints and restores our flexibility.
Do your body a favor and try this gentle exercise.

This geranium has bloomed. In February! Given just the right amount of light and water she is a happy plant.
People tend to think nothing can bloom in winter, or at least it's hard, or near impossible. In Chinese medicine winter is associated with old age. The senior years. Many think that this isn't a time for blooming but rather a time to quietly fade away.
But this is the best time! You have lived and learned (hopefully), and are ripe with so much wisdom that it can be one of the most fruitful times of life.
After retirement people can feel purposeless. While your "job" may have ended, so many possibilities have now opened up. Share your knowledge and gifts, and blossom in winter. It's a beautiful gift to the world.

Baby it's cold outside!
In physics we learn cold makes things contract. In winter animals hibernate and humans stay inside. In Chinese medicine we say it's a time to go inward.
When we take the time to look inside ourselves it can bring up a lot of emotions; feelings we have buried under the surface or sometimes deep in the depths of our souls. It can be scary to process these emotions, to really explore that which we've buried. But it's cathartic and necessary. Repressed emotions will eventually come out, and most likely in an inconvenient, painful and physical way.
Take these cold days, look inside, and feel what's really there. Forgive yourself. Let it go.
