Over the past two weeks, NHVA has encountered a variety of second crew calls where we rely heavily on our volunteers to complete the crew! Your dedicated volunteers were able to respond to every single one!

Tonight, Chief Maltby and EMT Gallo stood by as the New Hartford Volunteer Fire Department did their annual live burn. This is a great event as it allows EMS to see the inner workings of a fire scene, while also providing safety for the working crews.

On September 11th, our crew responded with Northwest Medic 3 to a patient suffering a heart attack (STEMI). While being moved to the ambulance, the patient went into cardiac arrest. Thanks to immediate CPR and defibrillation, pulses were restored, and the patient was rushed to UConn Health.

With incredible teamwork from EMS, ER, and cardiology staff, the blocked artery was opened in just 61 minutes — and we’re happy to share the patient is now recovering!

Amazing news! Congratulations New Hartford Volunteer Fire Department

We’re proud to serve our neighbors, and today we're grateful for State Farm and National Volunteer Fire Council for serving us. Thanks to the State Farm Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program, we’ve received a $10,000 grant to buy HURST Jaws of Life battery powered cutters. This means better safety for our firefighters and better service for you. Only 150 departments nationwide were awarded this grant.
