A quick tape job for a sprinter with pain behind the outer ankle bone. What does tape do? Honestly, it helps takes the edge off. Here we have two pieces one running up the achilles and back side of the calf. The second follows the tendon of the fibularis longus/brevis. Anchor to keep it in place and stretch to provide some tension across the area you want to address.

Missed our presentation? Here are a few snippets from Dr. Toole and Cody regarding shoulder injurys in pitchers. Specifically, they discuss how the ball and socket joint of the shoulder can become problematic, and how pitching velocity should be looked at when addressing injury.

More to come!

Some traditional lifts today at FORTE. Some push, pull, and carry mixed in with core to make a solid Saturday lift. Plus, a big PR for Jen this morning carrying full body weight on the hex-bar.

Little of this, little of that. Every workout we program has structure, lifts we target, movements we focus on during our cycles of training. Some workouts, like this, are a mixed bag of movements, normally on our recovery/mobility days. Try out some of our movement variations.

Late Sub-Acute Phase (Week 8) ACL-reconstruction rehab consists mostly of:

Quad & hamstring strength
Lunge progressions / single leg loading
Controlled Frontal Plane Balance (see last exercise)
Gait Mechanics / Dynamics
Movement Quality > Quantity

Note: We used BFR during the quad dominant portion of our workout today using a common 2:1:1:1 cycle for all exericses either time or reps based.

Janelle joined FORTE to get in shape and get back on the soccer field. She wanted to lose weight and improve her speed on the field. Janelle got to work, 5 days a week for the past 2 years. She's lost 67lbs, signficantly improved her speed on the field, and remained injury-free. There's no secrets, no GLP's, just hard work.

Want to see results? Just show up, we'll do the rest!

"Get your mind right." Now into his 5th month of rehab following an ACL reconstruction surgery, Desmend said thats the phrase that's kept him showing up day after day. It wasn't easy, and the recovery from a surgery like this is around 9 months before he can go back on the court.

Desmend shows up with his head in the right spot, works hard, and is seeing the results.

As outdoor track gets rolling we wanted to show some love to the many college and high school athletes hit big PR’s this indoor season. From the 200 to the 2 mile and 5k we had big PR’s across the board. Some athletes tried new events and distances for the first time, others for their last time.

When Erik competed in college back before they invited the carbon plate, it was common to see maybe a few kids go on to compete in T&F. Now, as the sport has grown, it’s encouraging to see more talent from the mohawk valley region continue on through D1, 2, and 3.

A huge shoutout to all the hard work these athletes have put in over the winter season, and who have hit bit PR’s!!!!!

Best of luck to all local and FORTE athletes competing this weekend at Nike and New Balance Indoor Nationals.

Keep an eye out for Danny Casatelli, and Emma Szarek, who will be competing this weekend.

We are especially proud to support Whitesboro High School athletes competing by sponsoring their entries for the meet.

It’s exciting to see Section III Mohawk valley athletes competing on the national stage!!
