One of my fondest memories of childhood was being in my grandparents garden. The side of their house was my own personal secret garden. Tall arborvitaes surrounding the entrance way to an ivy covered pathway, down blue stone steps covered in moss. Lilly of the valley covering mass amounts of space, rocks and stone leading down to an old, white gazebo.
There was a canopy of trees which draped over the stone patio, always a cool breeze circulating around the whimsical space which was my fantasy land. I remember always seeing feral kittens in the garden. There were vast colors of flowers and many hues of green.
It truly was magical.. I can still smell it today.
My grandmother owned a floral business, and my grandfather grew up on a farm. The love for plants, flowers, vegetables and fruits were passed down many generations. My mother and aunt have always had beautiful gardens as well. I was raised in this lifestyle and integrate it into my daily life.
