Clifford Beers

Clifford Beers A nonprofit innovating mental health care for children and families in Connecticut since 1913.

Mental health and support services for children, adolescents, young adults, and families. We are a nationally recognized provider of trauma-informed mental health care for children, adolescents, and adults. We serve as the safety net for children and families in the greater New Haven area who cannot afford or gain access to private mental health care. Our whole-family, trauma-informed, integrated model of care is designed to reduce chronic stress and build healthy and supportive connections. The children and families we serve are incredibly resilient, and we believe every individual deserves compassionate and individualized care that improves their health, resiliency, and quality of life. We accept Medicaid (HUSKY) as well as several commercial health insurance providers.

National Milk Day is a reminder that food is more than fuel—it’s deeply connected to mental health and well-being.

For individuals facing food insecurity, access to nourishing options like milk isn’t always guaranteed, and that stress can take a toll on mental health.

**Tip** Shelf-stable milk, powdered milk, or fortified alternatives can be more accessible and last longer for households with limited resources.

Nutrition, stability, and support are important for both body and mind.

Happy Houseplant Appreciation Day!

Proof that self-care doesn’t always look like bubble baths, and candles--sometimes it looks like watering a plant. Research shows that tending to plants can reduce stress, boost mood, create a sense of calm, and bring a sense of purpose.

Sometimes, growth starts with the smallest acts of care--plants included--so let your plants (and yourself) grow.

Happy National Career Coach Day!

Today we recognize the powerful role career coaches play—not just in resumes and job searches, but in mental health and emotional wellbeing too.

Career decisions are deeply personal. They often come with self-doubt, fear of change, and questions of identity. A career coach provides a safe, supportive space where clients can:

-Talk through uncertainty and overwhelm
-Rebuild confidence after setbacks
-Set boundaries that protect their mental health
-Align their work with their values and well-being

Supporting a client’s career means supporting the whole person. When mental health is prioritized, clarity improves, resilience grows, and sustainable success becomes possible.

To every career coach holding space, listening deeply, and guiding with empathy—thank you for the work you do. And to every client: you don’t have to navigate your career journey alone.

National Bobblehead Day reminds us that our minds are always in motion...

Life can make our thoughts bounce around, and that’s okay. What matters is taking time to care for our mental health, stay grounded, and support one another.

Keep your head up — and don’t forget to take care of what’s inside it.
As you wind down from a long day why not curl up with a good book or favorite show, listen to a podcast or your favorite music, grab a cup of tea or cocoa and reflect on one thing that went well today.

Share your moment with us so we can celebrate with you!

Today is National Bird Day!

What a powerful reminder they give us about mental health. Birds symbolize freedom, hope, and resilience. Their songs can calm our minds, encourage us to slow down, and remind us to look up and breathe.

Spending time in nature, listening to birds, or simply noticing the world around us can help reduce stress, improve focus, and support emotional well-being, especially on a cold winter's day such as today.

On this National Bird Day, we hope you were able to take a moment to pause, connect with nature, and check in with yourself or someone you care about.

Small moments of peace can make a big difference.
