🌍🔬 Today is World Kidney Day.

In recognition of Kidney Cancer and Disease Awareness Month, we’re highlighting promising new research from Yale exploring how personalized cancer vaccines may help prevent kidney cancer from returning.

In a small early-stage study led by Yale physician-scientist Dr. David Braun, researchers developed personalized vaccines designed to train each patient’s immune system to recognize and attack the specific genetic mutations found in their tumor.

The results were encouraging — all nine patients in the trial remained cancer-free for about three years after treatment following surgery for advanced kidney cancer.

While larger trials are still needed, this research highlights how precision medicine and immunotherapy are transforming the future of cancer treatment. Clinical research like this continues to move us closer to more personalized and effective treatments for patients.
