Munching with Melody drew another crowd, this time to make cinnamon rolls. Residents roll their own dough, spread it with butter, then sprinkled cinnamon and brown sugar on the dough, before rolling and cutting it into sections. After baking, residents topped the rolls with a cream cheese icing and enjoyed!

Meet Mona Frey, Executive Director at Welsh Mountain Home!

Mona joined the Welsh Mountain Home team as the Executive Director in 2018. Prior to WMH, Mona earned her LPN in 1991 and has worked as a floor nurse or nurse manager in many different settings, dedicating most of her career to Long-Term Care. Mona earned her Personal Care Home Administrators license in 2015. Mona is also a Certified Professional in Aging Services Risk Management. She enjoys traveling to different countries and learning about other cultures. She also enjoys singing and was part of the worship team at her church.

Harold Burkholder, a resident of Welsh Mountain Home, grew up in East Earl, PA where he was an active member of Lichty’s Mennonite Church. As a young man, he and his youth group would visit Welsh Mountain Home to sing for residents.

Harold’s career was centered around driving trucks, a job he loved deeply. He spent many years hauling milk from Lancaster County to processing plants in Northeast Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

When I first heard Cultivating Meaningful Moments was the theme for this issue of Flourish, two distinct thoughts came to mind. The first was the concept of being present in the moment. The second thought I had was the way sacred moments are part of how we experience Landis Communities. I am grateful that we are rooted in faith and share a spirituality that uplifts and upholds our core values of joy, compassion, integrity, stewardship, and community.
