I don’t think enough people realize that we are trained in specific upper cervical protocols for the Vagus Nerve.
Much more specific than many places.

The vagus nerve (cranial nerve X) is a mixed cranial nerve containing sensory, motor, and parasympathetic fibers. As the longest nerve in the autonomic nervous system, it acts as a two-way pathway, with 80–90% of its fibers being afferent (sensory), connecting the brain to major visceral organs to regulate "rest and digest" functions.
Key Characteristics and Functions:
Mixed Nerve Function: The vagus nerve carries both afferent (sensory) and efferent (motor) fibers, making it a critical part of the gut-brain axis.
Parasympathetic "Rest and Digest" System: It is a major component of the parasympathetic nervous system, responsible for regulating involuntary actions like slowing the heart rate, increasing digestion, and controlling breathing.
Sensory (Afferent) Component (80-90%): It transmits sensory information from the larynx, pharynx, heart, lungs, and gastrointestinal tract to the brain.
Motor (Efferent) Component (10-20%): It provides motor control for muscles in the pharynx, larynx, and soft palate, facilitating swallowing and speaking.
Anatomical Structure: It originates in the medulla oblongata, extends through the neck, and branches throughout the thorax and abdomen.
Specific Functions:
Cardiovascular: Decreases heart rate and reduces blood pressure.
Respiratory: Controls muscles of the larynx (voice box).
Gastrointestinal: Stimulates digestion, peristalsis, and gland secretions.
Sensory: Mediates taste from the epiglottic region.
The vagus nerve is essential for maintaining homeostasis by allowing the brain to monitor and control vital organ functions.

SOT is a technique that helps the Vagus Nerve and cerebrospinal fluid flow. And the Impulse instrument is very helpful for people with osteoporosis.

A lot of people think that going to the Chiropractor means being twisted, and “popped”——-but we have more experience than 90% of the practicing Chiropractors in the area in Gonstead, Diversified, Flexion/Distraction, Thompson, Activator, Impulse, SOT, Meric Full Spine Specific, and Specific Myofascial Technique.

A note from Dr Dave:
The difference?
In 30 years of serving the people of New Iberia, there has never been a time when we had a substitute, or “junior associate” treat our patients.

No one else can say that.

There has never been a time when we felt the need for a 2 week vacation, or even a full week vacation. We have never left town to go on a cruise, or to go hunting, or to an exotic locale—to just vacay.

We have always incorporated any time off with Continuing Education, and visiting family.

We have always put our children, and our practice members first. ALWAYS.

And now, in our 32nd year as Chiropractic Physicians, we have invested in, possibly, the most beautiful clinic this town will ever see—-possibly—one of the most beautiful of its kind in America.
And we have filled it with some of the best equipment in our Profession.

And we offer some of the lowest fees in the Nation.

Additionally, with no “junior associate” Doctors who have less experience, we come in early, stay late, and even work on Saturdays.

I say all of this——-not looking for a pat on the back——but asking to never be compared to any others.
