Lori Fagan, Director of Business Development, is proud to serve on the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice Tidewater Local Advisory Board (LAB). Last week, the Tidewater LAB hosted the Tidewater District VJJA 33rd Annual Spring Institute, themed “Ride the Wave,” in Virginia Beach, VA. The event provided essential training for Court Services Unit employees, probation officers and other professionals who support children and families across Virginia.

We were thrilled with the turnout, welcoming dedicated professionals from every corner of the Commonwealth.

This week's Healthcare Hero is Renee Gordon! Renee’s supervisor had this to say about her, “Renee is an inestimably valuable and indispensable constituent of the esteemed Pharmacy Team, whose indefatigable devotion to duty has earned her an enviable distinction as a paragon of dedication and loyalty. Renee undertakes a Herculean endeavor, acquainting herself with the daily requirements of our patients by procuring, packaging and dispensing medicinal remedies with resolute efficacy. Renee has amassed an impressive portfolio of experiential capital, comprising a span of over 37 years of invaluable contributions. Her extraordinary range of competencies extends far beyond the actualities of the pharmacy proper, for she also graciously assumes the responsibility of manning the front desk on an ephemeral basis, thereby ensuring a seamless continuity of service during transient periods of repose. To an inexpressible extent, our deep and abiding gratitude is extended to the incomparable Renee, who has selflessly contributed to the organization’s success in countless ways.”

Congratulations, Renee, thank you for your dedication to Service Excellence!

March 2 through March 6 is celebrated as Employee Appreciation Week. While we call particular attention to the efforts and accomplishments of our staff this week, we also recognize the continual commitment to Service Excellence and Trauma-Informed Care that you all exhibit every day. Cumberland Hospital is a unique facility that serves a clinically complex patient population in an uncommon setting.

On a daily basis we get to witness the life changing impact that you have on our patients’ current and future lives. This impact is not merely anecdotal. It is also shown in our patient’s high Patient Satisfaction scores where you received a score of 4.63 out of 5 over the course of the last 12 months. What you do every day requires a special type of person and special level of skill. Our patients thank you for what you do, their families thank you for what you do and we thank you for what you do. Happy Employee Appreciation Week to you all!

Social workers play a vital role in supporting individuals and families through some of life’s most challenging moments. They are often the steady voice in times of crisis, the advocate when someone feels unheard, and the guide who helps people navigate the path toward healing and stability. Their work is especially essential.

Social workers help coordinate care, connect patients with critical resources, support families and ensure that every person receives compassionate, person centered treatment. Their dedication strengthens our community and transforms lives every day.
