π When knee pain is not really a knee problemβ¦
This young patient came to us with knee pain after seeing another provider and not responding to care.
In our office, the knee examination was normal, but something from the history and evaluation did not match the picture. Focus was expanded to include the hip and this warranted some x-rays.
The result? A diagnosis of Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis (SCFE), a hip condition that can refer pain to the knee and requires immediate orthopedic surgeon intervention. Treating the knee alone would have missed the real diagnosis.
π This is what sets Integrated Physical Medicine apart.
We take the time, utilize our expertise, and look at the entire body, not just the site of pain to ensure nothing is overlooked. When necessary, we perform imaging to identify conditions that need immediate and appropriate referral.
