Good Afternoon, Brunch Heads! It’s been a minute, and life has been full of growth and new opportunities. My focus has always been community connection, and that will always be a part of me.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Newz London Brunch—whether you’ve followed, shared, joined us, or helped spread the word. You’ve helped this movement thrive. Meanwhile, I’ve been developing my own creative path as MzAthertonTingz, founder and creator of Newz London Brunch.
This past year, I was chosen for two community-focused committees. In 2025, I became a Teamster Union Representative for Local 493. This year, 2026, I joined the Headstart Parent Ambassador Committee in New London, voted in under The Friendship School in Waterford. I’m grateful voted in for both opportunities.

The administration’s FY27 budget proposal maintains current funding levels for Head Start. While this preserves existing support, it does not include an increase to keep pace with rising costs for workforce, facilities, and services. As the appropriations process moves forward, Congress will ultimately determine final funding levels.
👉 Please take a moment to email your members of Congress and urge them to support increased funding for Head Start in FY27, including a meaningful cost-of-living adjustment, quality improvement funding, and additional support for nutritious food.
