You may have seen the recent headlines about high-dose folinic acid helping kids with autism develop speech. But what’s really behind this?

I’ll be diving into that exact topic—Cerebral Folate Deficiency (CFD)—in my upcoming talk at the Healing Lyme Summit 2.0🧠🌿

CFD is not just about speech delays. It’s connected to:
✔️ Memory issues
✔️ Anxiety + depression
✔️ Developmental delays
✔️ Poor response to typical treatments
And here’s what most people don’t know: CFD is very likely impacting kids and adults with Lyme and other vector-borne infections.

In my talk, I’ll explain:
👉 What CFD is and how it affects the brain
👉 Why it’s often overlooked in Lyme and PANS/PANDAS
👉 How to support folate transport into the brain with high dose folinic acid

💚 If you’re a parent trying to connect the dots in your child’s complex health picture, this is a must-watch.

🧐 Have you ever felt like something is missing when it comes to your child’s neurological health?

You’ve tried different approaches, researched for hours, and worked with countless providers—but no one has mentioned Cerebral Folate Deficiency (CFD).

💡 Did you know?
📌 Many children with ASD, PANS/PANDAS, anxiety, and speech delays test positive for folate receptor autoantibodies, blocking folate from entering the brain.
📌 Standard blood tests can’t detect CFD, which is why so many children go undiagnosed.
📌 Addressing CFD can lead to remarkable improvements in speech, mental health, and emotional regulation.

That’s why I created The Brain-Folate Connection: What Every Parent & Provider Should Know—so you can finally get the answers you’ve been searching for.

🚨 CFD and MTHFR mutations are NOT the same thing. 🚨

Many parents assume that if their child has an MTHFR mutation, they must also have Cerebral Folate Deficiency (CFD)—but that’s not how it works.

📌 CFD is NOT a genetic mutation—it’s a folate transport issue, where the brain isn’t getting enough folate.
📌 CFD is caused by folate receptor autoantibodies (FRAAs), which block folate from crossing the blood-brain barrier.
📌 MTHFR mutations affect folate metabolism, NOT folate transport—meaning they don’t create the same issue as CFD.

💡 This is why treatment is different:
❌ MTHFR mutation? You may benefit from L-methylfolate (5-MTHF).
✅ CFD? You need folinic acid—not 5-MTHF!

Many parents assume they’re addressing CFD by supplementing with methylfolate, but if folate can’t reach the brain, symptoms may persist.

That’s why I created The Brain-Folate Connection: What Every Parent & Provider Should Know—to clear up the confusion and give you the tools to identify, test for, and properly treat CFD.

🚨 Shocking Statistics About CFD & Neurological Health 🚨

Did you know that:

📌 71% of children with ASD test positive for folate receptor autoantibodies (FRAAs), impacting speech, communication, and ASD symptoms
📌 63.8% of children with PANS/PANDAS have CFD markers, affecting their neurological symptoms.
📌 36% of people with treatment-resistant depression have CFD—many of whom saw improvements when treated with folinic acid.

Yet, mainstream medicine is NOT screening for this.

💡 If your child struggles with speech delays, tics, anxiety, OCD or other neurological symptoms, this could be a missing piece.

That’s why I created The Brain-Folate Connection: What Every Parent & Provider Should Know—a resource to help you understand CFD, test for it, and explore solutions.

💡 A breakthrough moment that has parents asking questions...

A nonverbal child with autism began speaking just 3 days after taking folinic acid—a moment so powerful it made national news.

But here’s what most parents aren’t being told: this isn’t just an isolated case. Many children with ASD, PANS/PANDAS, and neurological challenges have underlying folate transport issues that impact brain function.

📌 It’s called Cerebral Folate Deficiency (CFD), and it’s often overlooked.

Many mainstream providers aren’t testing for it—but families who uncover and address CFD often see dramatic improvements in speech, behavior, and cognitive function.

💡 Could this be the missing piece in your child’s health journey? I’ve put together a comprehensive resource breaking it all down for you.

Tips for Managing Bartonella at Home

Organize Medications:
Use a Pill Organizer: Track daily meds with a pill organizer. This ensures your child takes the proper dose at the right time.

Create a Medication Schedule: Use a calendar or app to schedule medication intake. Schedule reminders or alarms.

Maintain Hydration:
Encourage Fluid Intake: Give your child plenty of water, ideally half their body weight in ounces per day. Fun, reusable water bottles make hydration more appealing.

Hydrating Foods: Include hydrating fruits and vegetables in meals and snacks including watermelon, lettuce, cucumbers, celery, oranges, strawberries

Monitor Symptoms:
Symptom Diary: Record symptoms and changes to medications or supplements.
Healthy Diet:

Balanced Meals: Feed your child a balanced, non-processed, whole-foods diet to support their immune system.

Avoid Triggers: Identify and avoid foods that contribute to inflammation and symptoms.

Encourage Rest:
Restful Sleep: Give your child enough sleep. A relaxing nighttime routine will be critical.

Emotional Support:
Open Communication: Encourage your child to express their feelings and concerns. Be a supportive listener.

Prioritize Self-Care: As a caregiver, your mental health needs to be a priority. When you feel better, your child feels better.

How stress affects PANS and PANDAS

Immune System Impact: Stress can weaken the immune system, making it more susceptible to infections. In children with PANS/PANDAS, infections can trigger or worsen symptoms contributing to onset and flares.

Neuroinflammation: Chronic stress can lead to increased levels of inflammation in the brain. Neuroinflammation is believed to be a key factor in PANS and PANDAS, contributing to the sudden onset and severity of symptoms.

Cognitive and Emotional Impact: Stress can exacerbate cognitive and emotional symptoms such as anxiety, irritability, and difficulties with concentration. These are already prominent in PANS and PANDAS, and stress can intensify these challenges.

Sleep Disruption: Stress often leads to poor sleep quality, which can worsen neuropsychiatric symptoms. Sleep is crucial for immune function and overall brain health, and disruptions can have a cascading effect on symptom severity.

Depletes Nutrients: Stress can deplete important nutrients including magnesium, B vitamins, zinc, and iron. Low levels of these nutrients can impact mood, energy, ability to fight infections, and detoxification.
