Pluto retrograde. What does this offer on an individual basis and on a collective level?

Pluto will station retrograde on the 27th of this month and will continue moving back through the sign of Capricorn until the 7th October where it will station forward to resume its onward journey. Retrograde motion astrologically, is a normal part of a planets cycle through the zodiac wheel and depending on the planet, offers a self-reflective opportunity to reassess, and re-evaluate aspects within our own lives. It is a time of reaching inside ourselves, for deeper self-evaluation.

Pluto, known as the great transformer, is associated with rebirth and great change, holds up a mirror in the part of our chart that it wants us to take notice of. Whether we pay attention or not is almost irrelevant as it will be experienced whether we chose to see it or not. Whereas Saturn is known as the teacher and we see where we need to learn, Pluto digs deeper and concerns itself with our soul and the desires of our soul.

Pluto will expose, reveal as it seeks the truth. It will want to get to the bottom of things. It will want to deal with the darkness in some way. It will go beneath the surface and face deeper issues. It is the descent into places in our conscious and subconscious that we may not even be aware of, things we may have buried. It is inner work, shadow work if you will as you delve into the psyche to uncover the hidden darker things. Things that we refuse to address or look at. Things we cannot say.

When this planet is retrograde it may be inviting us to look again and revisit anything we have been burying deep inside us. It is an introspective time and offers the chance to revisit something we may have been ignoring, or something we have been failing to address.

This planet although feared by most, takes its place in our lives by opening us to our soul’s evolution. Where are we going? What do we want? It is about our very deepest emotions, desires and for those who may connect to karma or soul lessons, it is what we have brought with us, carried forward to develop our soul in this lifetime. Along with our Nodal placements this is a powerful combination for mapping our soul’s journey. When retrograde, it asks us to look within, even deeper and make sure we are listening to our truth.
Where Pluto is in your chart, the house it falls into will give you a better indication of how this may be working for you on an individual level but it is important we look at this on a collective, more mundane level.

Most Astrologers will agree that Pluto is implicated in the unfolding changes that have been emerging within our societies globally so it is important we pay close attention to this planet at this time. Of course, other planets are part of this picture and are important in bringing more light to this situation but we are looking at just Pluto here.

On a collective level more and more of us may start digging, asking questions. We may become bothered by the inconsistencies and policy changes we have endured over the past year more and more people may start to question those who govern, those who create policies. In many cases, this may be felt as a general unease deep within us. This is a time to question, to do our own research, find our own truths. Pluto will be joined by Saturn who will station retrograde on the 22nd May, and then by Jupiter on the 20th June. We may see governments, those in authority becoming increasingly more accountable for issues that they have failed to reveal, or perhaps there are secrets that are exposed during this period of time. We may see some changes to the boundaries and restrictions we have had imposed on us. There may be further developments in social interaction rules or what we are permitted to do and how.

What we do know is that with Pluto, profound changes can occur. Pluto retrograde is a time for global reflection. On an individual level, this energy asks us to be honest with ourselves so that positive change can occur when it starts to move direct again in October. It is a time for deep inner work and listening to what our soul is trying to communicate. How will you answer the call?
